Last night I watched my wonderful friend, yoga protester, and fellow @holtonarms alumna @karen_bralove dancing in a stage reading of 19, an in-progress musical about Alice Paul and the fight for the women’s vote. Don’t miss the video snippet of the magnificent @redsop (Millicent Scarlett) as Ida Wells
Bring back the grunge movement with this step-by-step guide:
Step 1 - Choose an outfit that says ‘I’m rugged yet relaxed.’ Step 2 - Roll around in a pile of dirt. Step 3 - Respond to every moment with an obscene amount of attitude. 😉🌶🤘🏽 Image from a 1990 UHF Fashion Star Photoshoot with stylist @jasonfarrer.
You know shit just got serious when a woman ties up her hair!
People will say things and not care how the others take it or how they hurt others feelings. Last year I probably would have walked away, but this year don't mess with me! If your gonna say "shit" be prepared to hear it back! Cuz I'm not weak anymore! I probably won't stoop to that level because Im better than that! But I will definitely throw the ball back in your court and make sure it stays there!
It's crazy before I use to think those muscles don't define nothing. But they actually do! When you start to become weak just one reflection in the mirror makes you realize your stronger than that. Your strong to face anything in life. If people make stupid remarks about you working out... challenge them say come on let's do this! I challenge you to do what I do! Make sure to add on those extra pounds on them that you have to lift and sweat through everyday! In the last year I feel working out has really turned my life around to see the picture clearer. My goal is for me to do the same in your life! It's not about working out its about not giving up!! So you ready to stop giving up?? #fightbackwithsugar#beprepared#stopgivingup#goal#clearpicture#liftyourself#innerstrength#reflection#extrapounds#mirrormirror#dontstop#buildup#shitgotserious#eyecrave#mamabear#dontmess#livelife#dreamscometrue#itsyourlife#believeinyou#yougotthis#timeforchange
Fierce and feminist. Welcoming my new Fatale to the club! Thank you for indulging me in my creative story telling leading up to the big reveal. She’s my Fatale V2, with a little more attitude, a pout that says ‘don’t mess’. She’s familiar yet new.
Limited edition hard enamel and glitter keyring/bag charm gift box. 8cm long, ring and hook attachments, allows for a comfortable grip. Do I need to specify she’s not a weapon? But by all means… She can fight back if you get my drift.
My Femme Fatale tees seem to have resonated with an amazingly broad and varied group of women across the globe, which took me by surprise I must say. I am humbled, grateful, and proud! I hope this little trinket will somehow become another ally to the ladies who fight for their right to shine and leave their mark into the world. I know, it’s just a keyring, but let me give you a little bit of back story… bear with me.
I started working on this back in June this year. At the time that I was sketching out the first concepts, the tragic story of Eurydice Dixon was all over the news. Authorities were reminding women to be ‘situationally aware’, we collectively felt another punch in the gut, anger and frustration rising that yet another woman had violently perished at the hands of an aggressor, and yet again, the accountability was not placed on the right heads. A daily occurrence that doesn’t always make the headlines. Baffling! We still have a long way to go, our weapons of choice are our voices, our shared experiences, our education, our votes, and our sisterhood. Bit by bit we create positive change even if seems like the biggest mountain to climb. But we do it with fire in our guts, we rise above the fear and command to be respected.
So it became clear to me that this little project had to have a bigger purpose, because I too, was angry and fired up! For each purchase, I will donate $2 to the International Women’s Development Agency, (IWAD) whose work advances and protects the rights of women and girls, in all their diversities. It’s a little contribution, it’s what I can do for now. With the help of my feminist sisters, it’s a small gift of change. (Continued in comments 👇🏻)
My mother as you probably know is gorgeous. What you are less likely to know is that she is the youngest child of 10. She has 1 sister (the 5th of 10) which leaves her with 8 brothers. Here are 4 of them.
I’m assuming she didn’t get harassed on the streets a lot 😬
