Last Friday I closed the AmeriCorps chapter of my life and it’s all so bittersweet. For the last four years I served as a Community Liaison/Team Leader with the Flower City AmeriCorps program and I learned a lot. I learned a lot about myself, our community and our city. .
In the last four years I served over 6,800 hours, supervised over 25 members and or interns, coordinated dozens of workshops, helped organize dozens of mini clean sweeps and attended more meetings than the law should allow lol. I was given the opportunity to grow and explore my passions, interest and wonder. I helped create connections where they didn’t exist, but most importantly I introduced folks to what could be! .
I am forever grateful to the Southeast Neighborhood Service Center who homed me and gave me life when I needed it. The women and men I met there were quick to nurture my young mind, push me beyond my limits and even yoke me up when needed 🤷🏽♀️ lol. They supported my endeavors often donating not only money but there time to anything I put together. I was blessed to be there and will definitely miss our ecosystem. .
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all who donated. We are flattered by the generosity. We exceeded our goal of 2500€! 💙👏 We now have a target goal of 2700€, with an ultimate goal of 3000€. We have only 6 days to do this. Can we? Only with your help. We are unsure how we will receive online donations once this campaign finishes. If you have been considering donating, now is the best time. Thank you to all our donors and supporters. We truly cannot do it without you. We welcome anyone who has time to donate, to please come and help at the shelter. We need the help and the dogs love it! ❤️🐶 #donateyourtime
This morning I was a site captain for I Love A Clean San Diego’s annual Coastal Clean Up Day. I’ve been volunteering for them since I was a sophomore in high school. I partner with them twice a year (April & September) for the annual big clean ups. I live in a “not so good” part of town so I always want to make sure my community is represented. Be the change you want to see in the world. If I don’t organize the clean up in my neighborhood, then who will? We had 20 volunteers pick up over 200 pounds of trash in less then 3 hours! And the Council President stopped by my site to speak to the volunteers! #Volunteer#Community#Cleanup#ILACSD#CoastalCleanUpDay2018#DonateYourTime#Donate#GiveLikeNoOneElse#Lead
Gregory, Santhny and Khuong helped our Rotary sponsor club, Adelaide Light, to landscape the gardens at Catherine House and build a pergola. 🌳🌷This will provide a place of peace and relaxation for the women staying in the Catherine House accommodation. 💕Great work, everyone! You’re making a difference, and got your hands dirty for a good cause, even with the wild weather warnings! 🌬🌧
Today I had the pleasure of collecting items for @sharethedignityaustralia thanks to the generosity of shoppers from @supabarn Sans Souci and @modaciaobella for the bag donations and other items. My own personal contributions were toiletries collected over the year, tissues, brushes and lip glosses to help women in need. I had so much fun filling these bags, my door is always open to drop any spare toiletries left over from hotel stays or handbags you no longer need. @houseofredstyling #sharethedignityaustralia#helpingwomeninneed#helpthoselessfortunate#donateyourtime#givegenerously
Thank you to @katherine.jane.lefevre who asked me to donate to @nelunefoundation
The Nelune Foundation provide psychological and practical support, assistance and care for public hospital and underprivileged cancer patients in the community.
On Saturday evening The Lilac Ball 2018 raised just under 1.9 million for The Nelune Foundation. Amazing!
That joyous feeling of contributing to society.
We’ve all felt it. Even if you won’t admit it. I know you have. Cause secretly we’re all good people at heart (or so I’d like to believe)
That tingling feeling you get in your gut. The giddy sensation. The tongue tied feeling when your words just don’t want to cooperate.
While I didn’t donate these items myself I was the in between for my unit.
The wounded warrior foundation is holding a Candlelight Gala and the desperately needed items for swag bags. I teamed up with some local business and people in the military community to help out where we could.
It felt awesome!
Get out donate your items. Donate your time. There are countless time and things you can donate. Support your local economy. #yeg#woundedwarriors#candlelightgala#donateyourtime#donatetoagoodcause#happysoul#jeffersonarmoury
I was taught at an early age to give back to our community by my mother. Each month I’ve committed to providing a meal to the families that stay at the local RonaldMcDonald House. As I delivered the meals to the hospital where the families,
I pray that this meal would provide nourishment and that for a few minutes they can take relax and not have to worry about what to eat. Praying for all the patients and their families that are at Brenner’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. #giveback#donateyourtime#love#bethere#liveinthemoment#teamchampion#realtor#runner#masterkeyrealty#rmk

Mr. Rogers once told of a code "1 4 3"
~1 for I~
~4 for LOVE~
~3 for YOU~
I recently learned about a charter school near me using the code "2 4 3". For the new school year, the principal graffitied, tagged and hid this code all over the school to let the kids know: WE (2) LOVE (4) YOU (3). This school has a high suicide rate, attempts and suicidal thoughts.
I am going to Roots Charter High School with a surprise delivery on Monday. 😀 Can't stop thinking about these kids and I want to make a difference.
Story on KUTV2. Google it. I can't get it out of my mind.
a little airport flow before my journey to Phoenix, AZ for a mission trip with @onesight to give the gift of sight 👓 to kids/families in need. Extremely honored to be able to help! 🙏🏼 | #createyouryoga
