Scott Summers is our sweet baby boy rescued from a local farm store when he was nearly dead. Scott had been separated along with his sister and left to die from his injuries. Scott wants to asks everyone, please do not purchase farm animals! There are many needless casualties in the shipping, unloading and point of sale process, while they are packed too tightly in bins at the stores they are “sold” at. We are thankful that Sanctuary Moon was there to nurse these two back to health and for the store employee who showed mercy on them enough to release them to a sanctuary. Rescue and adopt, don’t shop. 🦃🦃❤️
These graceful spotted doves were orphaned when their nest was cleared out. They were grown up at home by Darshan Desai. Doves and pigeons have a part in their food pipe called 'crop'. They store grains in this part where they are mixed with 'crop milk' which makes the grains digestible for the babies. A baby at the stage where its feathers have not showed is completely dependent on the parents for the crop grains. It cannot survive without its parents. However, once juvenile, they can survive on grains provided by us along with shelter. Then, it is taught to fly by its parents by short flights until it gains might in its wings.
