DOG POSE • backtobasic • #downwarddog ——
Start from a table top position (on hands and knees). Slide your knees a bit back, tuck the toes underneath you, lift knees off the floor and stay like that for three breaths. It will get hard quickly, but stay! Your muscles can handle it. After three breaths, press your hands even more into the ground, and lift your butt way way up and back. ——
Keep your knees bent and don't worry too much about bringing your heels to the floor, rather focus on lengthening, stretching your spine😉
Perfect! You're all set up. Down Dog is technically an inversion, so very nice for circulation and you are creating an inverted triangle shape with your body. Might be helpful to envision that.
Stay here for five breaths and then lower down into child's pose.
You made it!🙌🏽 #yogaforeveryone#learnyoga#beginneryoga#morningyoga#fridaymood#yogaeverday#justdoit#justdoit ✔️ #doingthings

What if I told you that the mind-muscle connection was not just bro science? There is a principle called Sherrington’s Law of Irradiation that I first learned from @coach_rt3 at his steel mace workshop. He’s got the Steel Mace Certification coming up in Oakland soon on Sep 8 and 9. Rich showed us an exercise called a standing plank where we would press our feet outward while standing up until we felt our glutes engage. At the same time, we would be holding a steel mace and try to pull it apart. We would pull in opposite directions as hard as possible and almost every single person wanted to give up after about 30 seconds.
Sherrington’s Law of Irradiation states this:
A muscle working hard recruits the neighboring muscles, and if they are already part of the action, it amplifies their strength. The neural impulses emitted by the contracting muscle reach other muscles and 'turn them on' as an electric current starts a motor.
I’ve been trying these Rows that I call Irradiation Rows. You start in a w-raise position and hold that for about 15 seconds, then you drop all the way back and pull yourself up with a row and squeeze at the end position for 4 seconds each rep.
happy thursday friends 🤩!! today was back to reality for me with a college workshop at school today — senior year here i come 😅. i woke up early to go to @tdmcowhollow for barre with @amanda.a.taylor (loved your outfit today girl 😝) and off to school i went! came home, did some SAT practice (my fave activity 🙄), and then enjoyed a delicious bowl of this VEGAN SPLIT PEA SOUP that my sweet mama made for me 💛. my mama is the best — there’s no doubt about it 🙊! all i’m thinking about now is how ready i am for friyayyyy and then the weekend (and my @vixenkitchen.co paleo + vegan ice cream i’ll be having later 🙊). have a wonderful evening ✨!
soup deets 👉🏻 bowl of homemade vegan turmeric ginger split pea soup (tell me in the comments if you want me to post the recipe on the blog 🙃!). i layered a bunch of organic spinach on the bottom (‘cause extra greens alwayyyyys 😎) and then put the hot soup on top and it wilted in — one of my fave ways to get in extra veggies 😌!
Have you ever tried to enter the long black branches
of other lives --
tried to imagine what the crisp fringes, full of honey,
from the branches of the young locust trees, in early morning,
Do you think this world was only an entertainment for you?
Never to enter the sea and notice how the water divides
with perfect courtesy, to let you in!
Never to lie down on the grass, as though you were the grass!
Never to leap to the air as you open your wings over
the dark acorn of your heart!
No wonder we hear, in your mournful voice, the complaint
that something is missing from your life!
Who can open the door who does not reach for the latch?
Who can travel the miles who does not put one foot
in front of the other, all attentive to what presents itself
Who will behold the inner chamber who has not observed
with admiration, even with rapture, the outer stone?
Well, there is time left -- fields everywhere invite you into them.
And who will care, who will chide you if you wander away
from wherever you are, to look for your soul?
Quickly, then, get up, put on your coat, leave your desk!
To put one's foot into the door of the grass, which is
the mystery, which is death as well as life, and
not be afraid!
To set one's foot in the door of death, and be overcome
To sit down in front of the weeds, and imagine
god the ten-fingered, sailing out of his house of straw,
nodding this way and that way, to the flowers of the
to the song falling out of the mockingbird's pink mouth,
to the tippets of the honeysuckle, that have opened
in the night
To sit down, like a weed among weeds, and rustle in the wind!
Listen, are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?
Always with the charcoal 🖤 Ingredients include kaolin clay and activated charcoal. Clay is a drawing agent, charcoal is an absorbing agent. The clay pulls toxins, oil, debris, and congesting substances from the pores while the charcoal absorbs said things. Also, obviously great for overnight spot treatment 💁♀️
Eating more, lifting more, and smiling more - training has been awesome so far since the off season started. I finally shoulder pressed 70lbs after being stuck at 60lbs for a long time, did 275lb glute bridges, and a few other things that used to be very challenging for me like a chin-up/ pull-up. Small victories pave a path for progress, celebrate them as often as they happen because that means you’re moving forward!
Much thanks to @erikanderson33 for pushing me today 💪🏽
One of my favorite things about yoga is how there are so many variations of poses. Here is me literally melting on my mat taking 4 variations of figure 4!
Thanks Global Warming🤦🏽♀️
Can’t wait to get into the mountains this weekend and clear my head a bit ⛰
I’m coming off such a high from this past month, which has me feeling all sorts of weird 😮
Is an event hangover a thing?
Asking for a friend...
rowing into the weekend like 🚣🏻♀️🚣🏻♀️... WOW, is it just us or is August FLYING by 🚀🚁✈️🏎we’re so excited for another workout (together, yay!) before this week comes to an 🔚 & to share what we’re up to this weekend (think, less 🏋🏻♀️, more 🏖⚓️) ~ happy Friday-eve everyone! 😘 #classhoppers#lynxfitnessclub
