photo by: @dogbreathphotography | My friend Bear here is my most favorite kind of dog on the planet: Rescued. He’s what you might call a mutt, but what I like to call ‘limited edition’. As an Australian Shepherd / Golden Retriever mix, he’s pulled from all the best parts of those breeds to make one perfect (and handsome!) super dog! Here’s a fun fact about mutts: Because they draw from a broader and more diverse gene pool they are thought to adjust more easily to a variety of living conditions and of course, icing on the cake: they’re more unique looking! As we were walking down towards the beach to take Bear’s photos, I could see the sun was just about to dip it’s head behind the horizon. We rushed to this fantastic old log that was sitting in the sand and Bear was happy to stand up on it and hold his best smiley pose for me (for copious amounts of treats, of course!) Just a few minutes later, the pinks and purples of twilight began to swirl through the sky above our heads and reflect across the bay and we all stood there in awe as we experienced one of the single most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life! (Bear was more excited about the treats flying into his open mouth than the sunset going on behind him, to be fair.) :) #internationalhomelessanimalday#mixedbreeddog#sunset#dogphoto#dogphotographer#dogsofig#boston

AAANNNDDD we’re off!! I bounced into mum’s life a couple of weeks ago- just as she had moved house - gotta giggle I mean who would do that in the same week 😂 -between you and me I think she thinks she’s had another baby lol! She seems sooo exhausted! Not sure 🤔 why. Can’t wait for you to join me on all my adventures.
Sweet #puppychess , she got so much energy at the moment, especially outside 😜 A few weeks ago, she got stuck and ripped her whole claw off! She’s not allowed to walk/run off leash until it’s completely healed... I just hope she’s good when we’re off on our eurotrip next month 😅 #jennycarlsso

I’m Kaylee Greer, and I have the most ‘holy-moly-is-this-real-life?’ sort of job on the planet. I am a professional dog photographer! I’m thrilled to be hanging out with you here on Instagram today in honor of International Homeless Animals’ Day. Keep your eyes on this account and check out the Stories throughout the day, as I’ll be taking you on an adventure behind-the-scenes on a rescue photo shoot at an animal shelter this afternoon! And speaking of rescue: this sweet gal pictured here is Sadie. Sadie is a rescued 14 year old Australian Shepherd mix who absolutely loves to swim. Here she is, enjoying the ice blue waters of Canada’s gorgeous Moraine Lake in Banff National Park on a perfect summer day! #internationalhomelessanimalsday#dog#dogphoto#dogphotographer#dogsofig#banff#morainelake#canada#australianshepherd#rescuedog

The dog is deemed man's best friend, but how far would you go for man's best friend. We have done an enormous amount for ours. Our dog Henry has been diabetic since he was a puppy. It has cost us thousands of dollars in vet hospital visits and medication. I haven't added it all up because I am afraid to see the number. I am not going to go into the entire backstory. I think I already did that in a previous post, but I call him the million dollar dog. He has monthly costs for insulin, needles and curves (taking blood to monitor his blood sugar), plus he went blind and we had surgery for him. I am not going to even mention how much that was and did you know they have eye surgeons for animals? No? Me neither. I had no clue that was even an option.
When we first found out he was diabetic and I started telling people they all asked me what we were going to do with him. I was surprised how many people out there were willing to give the dog back to the breeder or put him down. In a world where people talk about adopting shelter pets and saving animals and speaking for animals because they have no voice they were quick to dismiss my dog. For me, unless the illness was terminal, I'd have a hard time giving up a dog that can be easily treated, although expensive. Also we were already attached. He was a great dog besides his complications. 🐕
I can say though that I am not sure I would want to do this again. Living on one income is hard enough. I also can say that I don't know if I'll want another dog for awhile after he is gone. My vet always tells us we are getting major Karma points for taking great care of him. I'm just wondering when the universe is going to let us redeem those Karma points. 🐩
Would you have done this for your best friend (dog, cat, whatever animal it is)?
Raise your hands up in the air! 🙌🏻🐾
Hey, guys! 👋🏻 After a short break, I'm ready to share photos of this furbaby with you again. Well, this picture is a great illustration of how fun my vacation was 😄. Toto also had a great time with my friend and her dogs 👌🏻.
I took this photo to capture the beauty of two dogs (Gladys and me) looking out the window. We didn’t see anything of importance but that’s not the point. Everyday mundane life is, beautiful. Life is, beautiful. #bruceandgladys#siblingsbelike#dogphotographer
How is it that dogs can make our world significantly better by just existing!? I mean, look at that smile!? How can you not feel instantly happier?!
Give me a 🙋🏻♀️ if you’re the kinda dog mom who would rather stay in with her furbabies than go out on the weekends!
