Pubmed .

We live in an open society where almost anyone can place judgment on another person. With social media and the Internet, that makes hating even more accessible. When it comes to coping with these situations, my advice is to focus on yourself, what you are doing to better yourself, the accomplishments and positive qualities you have, and the people close to you that truly know you and love you. Let any negative comments fall around you without striking you.
When I was younger, because I didn't fit a lot of the stereotypes that people expected of me, I had to face a lot of judgement. Being at Harvard or even Med school, sometimes I honestly felt like Elle Woods, where fellow classmates told me that I shouldn't dress up or wear makeup to class; that it was Harvard, not fashion school. At this point in my life, I feel that I've earned the right to be who I am. I have a huge heart and put everything into the care for my patients and my family and I try to create positivity around everything I do.
Don't be afraid to be yourself. When you are true to yourself, it will allow you to be unaffected from any negative judgments. Every single person is unique and creates their own path in life that is just as valid and important as anyone else's. Express yourself in whatever way makes you feel joy and don't let the fear of judgement stifle your style or your inner glow and keep you from being yourself. - Dr. Cat
I’ve found that life is not about what happens to you, but rather the choices you make after it happens. Life is an ocean of choices. Out of fear and doubt, you may ignore the choices that are right in front of you. It’s natural to want to walk a straight line like a horse with blinders because God forbid you stray and things don’t work out. But staying on the same path waiting for something to happen means you are not living a life you choose to live. Choices and options are not just that. They are opportunities. Opening doors if you will. Me? I took opportunity when it looked me in the face. Applying to Us Med schools, I didn’t get in. Doors quickly closed. Sometimes all you need is one other door. St. George’s University was that door. I was afraid. I was 24 and had never left Home. I was, in the words of someone who used to mean everything, a “child” who “would never leave and never become a doctor”. These words came from someone I once cared about, so I believed them. So I know how powerful someone else’s words are. When it ended, I saw the choice I had, and I took it. I chose to leave home, regardless of my fears. I chose medicine. I grew up. I toughened up. And lived the life I wanted. So next time a door closes on you or someone says you won’t amount to anything. Don’t let it hold you back from living the life your desire. You alone are your own limit. So aim high! And do what scares the living daylights out of you. .

17.12.2017 my debt reached 267580SEK. .
It was bank, but most importantly my friends, real friends, that saved me and borrowed me money when the bank refused to do so. To get me out of the forest and buy me some food. Some of them sent me everything they had and I felt..... well it hurt. .
I swore on my life Im gonna pay everything back and I will not stop unless it is done. One of my friend thanked me so much without even knowing that I used his 30 dollars to buy winter jacket from secondhand shop... and so he gave me warm. Another fried apologized, because she wasn’t able to send more. For her money I had food for 2 weeks.... and so she gave me full stomach....... .
But most importantly all of them gave me feeling I’m worth something to someone. Feeling I have been missing for so so long.. Feeling that I need to stand up and go.....
And as I promised I didn’t stop. I have last 39000 SEK to pay. I’m in the end of the road. .
Instead of my holidays I moved to the east of Sweden and will be working here. You will not hear of me until it is done. .
To all of you my Friends: This is for you🖤➰ Love Pav

Last night I read a disturbing article in Vice about the rise in Xanax use in the US. Prescriptions for the drug rose by 67% from 1996 to 2013. Little described in the media but about 30% of opioid deaths also show Benzodiazepines (like xanax) on the tox report.
So why is it while at the same time we have a war on drugs we also have such a rise in prescription drug use? A lot of doctors and the media blame societal changes and anxieties. Faster pace of life, cell phones, social media, to worsening stress and anxiety. And i agree to some degree with that.
I think there has also been such a “normalization” for children to be on psych meds, antidepressants, adderall, etc, that later on using these meds seems normal.
Lastly, and almost never mentioned, I think the American medical system of insurance and large corporations squeezing doctor visits into 10-15 mins means that doctors often replace sound advice and good relationships with quick fixes like prescription drugs.
So anyway, benzos like xanax, have an important medical use. But they can be very dangerous just like opioids can, and in general our medical system has done little no no innovating to help address these problems. Doctors need more time with patients to help deal with both health problems and mental health. This system is out of control.
