The typical response when people find out I鈥檓 a PT who loves working with Crossfit and other barbell athletes, their typical response is 鈥減fft yeah I bet you get so many clients that way鈥 assuming that injuries are running rampant amongst these athletes.

Well that perception is totally WRONG. Let鈥檚 break down a few facts:

1. Injury rates in Crossfit are no higher than other sports
2. Inactivity is more likely to hurt you than doing Crossfit
3. The risk of some musculoskeletal pain is MORE than worth the benefits in the prevention of diabetes, heart disease, and other diseases of inactivity.

I love working with these athletes because of this stuff 馃憜. There is no better way to find a community of support, no better system for a total lifestyle upgrade.

I work with these athletes because Crossfit and other strength & conditioning gyms are doing a better job at getting people well than our 鈥渉ealthcare鈥 systems. I want to be a part of that.

When ready, the tube is withdrawn and the graft placed in the site to be repaired. The advantages of using the graft instead of synthetic prostheses is the lower infection rate, longer life and less risk of thrombus formation. 馃拤

Ever since the barefoot running craze started there have been questions surrounding the benefits of barefoot running. While there are some benefits, it still stands that running barefoot can cause some potential harm due to the variety of surfaces that our feet come into contact with.

When indicated (mostly due to present symptoms during running) it can be of rehabilitative value to transition a strike pattern to monitor corresponding changes in symptoms and potential biomechanical changes.

The main benefit here is building resilience of the foot. Safe progression should always be used and if you are unsure where to start, contact your local physical therapist that has experience treating runners if you have pain and are thinking about transitioning footwear.

馃挕FULL DISCLOSURE: This exercise I learned from @thebarbellphysio who in turn learned it from @functionalrangeconditioning. It was such a good idea I had to start doing them myself. 馃弸锔忊嶁檪锔忦煉猅his exercise is meant for athletes with shoulder instability as a means to challenge end range shoulder control. 馃棧锔廙y take on it: as a guy with a wobbly right shoulder from years of baseball and weightlifting, this exercise was a major challenge for my throwing arm side. After a few rounds, I could feel quality muscle activation around the posterior shoulder. I featured my other arm for the sake of showing cleaner technique. 
This exercise paired with a bottoms up kettlebell press is a recommended one two punch of mobilization followed by stabilization and strengthening by the kettlebell exercise.

This week I鈥檓 trying an egg bake! It is honestly one of the prettiest things I have EVER baked. Recipe is below!

Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground turkey.
1 diced green bell pepper.
陆 diced red onion.
2 handfuls of spinach.
12 eggs (can also substitute some eggs with egg whites).
1 medium sweet potato thinly sliced.
Handful of cheese (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375.
Begin by thinly slicing a sweet potato (kind of into chips). Line the bottom of your pan with the sweet potatoes after they鈥檝e been sliced.
Brown ground turkey seasoning with salt and pepper. You could also use turkey sausage but I don鈥檛 like sausage.
Layer diced pepper, onion, turkey, and spinach on top of the sweet potatoes.
Whisk 12 eggs together in a separate bowl then pour over all ingredients in the pan.
Top with your choice of cheese!
Place in oven for ~30 minutes or until top begins to brown.

Feeling the burn馃敟, enjoying the learning process, and appreciating the improvements in strength 馃挭through this Challenge! Pineapple smoothies next to my baby pineapple plant 馃崓 I think it鈥檚 been making a slow death for a year now 馃槄 But maybe since it鈥檚 still hanging on it鈥檚 gonna survive! 馃馃徏
I remember being blown away when I learned what the pineapple plant looked like. I always pictured them growing on a palm tree like coconuts 馃槀 What can I say, there weren鈥檛 many pineapples growing in Finland!

Happy Monday aka my post-call day! This is the first time in a long time where I didn't come back and go right to sleep. Usually I take a quick nap even if I had a decent amount of sleep because it just makes me feel better 馃槀

Got so much done today! Studied for anatomy, got my workout in {I'm back officially!!}, treated myself to a mani-pedi, picked up some things at Target and Sephora, stopped by a farmer's market, went grocery shopping {so I can meal-prep for the rest of the week}, and now off to dinner with some high school friends. 
Starting a new program called LIIFT4 {high intensity interval training + weightlifting} on July 16th and prep week started this week. It's not too late to join me and get that summer body! 馃憞Email me at driristian@gmail.com or comment below for more info! I'm SO excited to get back into shape... I've let myself go quite a bit so let's do this together!

P.S. Lost all my arm muscle gains from 80 Day Obsession 馃槶 but I'm determined to get them back!
