I’ve mentioned before I did not start out as a website designer, copywriter and brand builder.⠀
I started out as an aesthetician opening a mini spa. An aesthetician that knew a lot about skin and nothing about marketing. As I worked to keep my business baby alive I had to figure out how to do this marketing stuff. Despite the fact it legit terrified me.⠀
And don’t even get me started on how I felt about technology. ⠀
All of this to say, I’m shocked I’m doing the work I’m doing. ⠀
So why the switch-a-roo? Well... the light bulb started to go on when I received the third iteration of my website rebrand in 4 years. At this point I had invested over $8,000 in my website alone. Shortly after I received my swanky new website, I decided I needed to rebrand my rebrand due to a last minute change in business model (I was about to have my first jelly bean). ⠀
I could not afford to pay someone to do such things, so I set about tinkering with my beautiful, newly designed, website. ⠀
I vacillated between wanting to punt my computer out the window and sheer exhilaration. I was so damn proud of myself for entering into tech territory and not dying. I finished that website with a new sense of self (so dramatic, but true). ⠀
Doooode I can do tech.⠀
And that’s what happens when you get bit by possibility... permission seeps in. You think… maybe I could do this, so YOU DO IT. ⠀
Hotdog, wouldn’t you know it… I’m opening the doors to my course TOMORROW to show you how you can nail the writing, website design AND branding of your business in a way that feels so damn doable. ⠀
This is the course I would have given a nipple to have all of those years ago. I’m literally guiding you through the 1:1 process I use with my clients for content creation and brand building and showing you step-by-step videos on how to build a beautiful and customizable Squarespace website. #heartandhomepage#letsdothis ⠀
Feeling a bit proud of myself 🙌🙌🙌 I made a website!! emilygordon.com.au (easy link in bio) I find technology challenging/intimidating and there were definitely points where I got stuck and had to walk away (eg immediately when overwhelmed by templates, or at the end when I thought I was done but the mobile site looked CRAZY) but I walked back each time and worked it all out, and frankly it's exactly what I hoped. You may now call me Webmaster. Thank you so much @susiemander for pushing & pushing & pushing me to do it - great mateship! Also I used @wix which I'm so happy with if anyone else is thinking of doing your own site.

Do you know you need to DIY your website but REALLY don’t want it to look DIY’d??
I talk with moms all the time who know they need a website to grow their business, but are just so overwhelmed by all of the choices. And for a lot of them, hiring a web designer like me to do it FOR them feels out of the question. .
So they’re left trying to figure it out on their own, scouring Pinterest and YouTube for help, and WASTING precious hours and days - often even weeks - trying to get a website that doesn’t look like they did it by themselves. .
I decided there has to be a better way. .

Your nonprofit website doesn’t need to take forever!! Launch version 1.0 and make improvements as you go.
One concept you can implement when building a website is the idea of a minimum viable product. Often called an MVP by the cool kids at startups, this idea is so powerful because it forces you to get crystal clear about what’s a “Need” versus a “Want” on your site.
This level of clarity helps move your website relaunch forward and keeps you sane while working on your nonprofit’s programs and services.

“I don’t know where to start” is something I hear or read multiple times a day. If you’ve been sitting on an idea but don’t know where to start - and you genuinely want to start - tell me what it is, and I will tell you where to start. If you don’t want to post it in the comments, DM me. There are people drawing on potatoes and selling them, at a ridiculous profit, so I promise you, no idea is “crazy”.
And if you don’t know what it is that you want to do, I’m up for the challenge. BRING IT ON!
It’s amazing what a simple cup of coffee will do for productivity on a Tuesday! 😂☕️
Here’s a guess on what your week looks like: you’re teaching yoga classes, connecting with students, posting your best pics & thoughts on Instagram, fine-tuning your playlist, and more. The list goes on and on. Teaching yoga is rewarding, but sometimes exhausting. Right?!
So — how do you continue to grow without total burnout? 🧐 Have you thought about a yoga teacher website? Perhaps a blog? Or how to create a more strategic marketing plan for your offering?
Check the link in my bio for part two of a blog series regarding tips & tools to make marketing more affordable and easy!!

What's good good people? 👋🏼 Before I jump into all of the #Riktober festivities, let me tell you a little about me.
My name is Rikki. I answer to Auntee, Auntee Rik, or Rik
I'm a mom, 20 years removed from diaper duty.
I have 30 years' experience in business administration and operations.
One of the projects I worked on 20ish years ago still appears on store shelves worldwide today.
I once knew how to ask, "Hi, it's Rikki. Your numbers are late. When are you submitting?" in Spanish, French, and Italian without hesitation because deadlines.
I've been a radio show co-host, a radio midday producer at a top radio station in a US top 10 market... I've worked in retail, Government, entertainment, non-profit, Education, Spirits and aviation.
I have been an independent brand and web designer for the last 13 years. WordPress is my platform of choice.
I love good food. I am not a fan of cooking.
In another life I would have raced fast cars.
This IS the short list.
I slept on my skills and accomplishments for a very long time. That ended earlier this year. I'm very dope.
I love to see people performing at their optimal level and it is my purpose in life to help them discover, turn on and/or turn up their light.
Cash is my love language.
Sooooo... say hello and introduce yourself 👇🏽 , por favor! . . .
