I see too many of my beautiful #PCOS sisters posting pics of food with dairy! Women with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) must avoid dairy because the protein in dairy spikes our insulin- especially whey protein! (Women with Endometriosis should also avoid dairy as well because it’s inflammatory)✨
Exceptions to this are butter from pasture raised cows, and ghee, but in small amounts✨. ——-
Yes PCOS is a genetic condition, but it can be turned off with certain lifestyle and dietary changes. And ditching dairy is one of the biggest game changers! It’s crucial for women with PCOS to keep their blood sugar levels balanced, the reasons being ⬇️
1. High blood sugar leads to insulin resistance.
2. Then the body starts pumping out too much insulin which signals our ovaries to produce more testosterone.
3. This flips on the switch for PCOS!! So flip off that switch by ditching the dairy, and eating low glycemic foods. ————-
Personally, Intermittent Fasting was a lifesaver for me. But I want to hear from you!! What’s worked to heal your PCOS? What hormone gurus have been life savers for you? #hormonalhealth#periodhealth#PCOSThriver#ditchthedairy
Bounty bar bites, anyone?
I find it so annoying when vegan recipes go like this:
"ONLY FIVE ingredients, SO yUmMy and EaSy, all you need is coconut oil (me: sure I've got that) cacao (me: Got that) agar agar (me: Yay, got that too, I might have everything!) and lastly just one leaf from a rare plant that no one has ever heard of and 2 drops of ridiculously expensive liquid that you will never use ever again! So easy!" (me: 😒 Well that's just f@#*ing great.)
So, when I say this recipe is easy, I mean it is easy AND accessible. Hooray!
Mix a can of @naturescharm condensed coconut milk (buy from @faithfultonature or @dischem_pharmacies) with about 250g desiccated coconut. Pop in the fridge for 20 minutes or so. Melt your favourite dark chocolate, cut the coconut mixture in bite sizes and dip in the chocolate. See? Easy!
Eating out use to be difficult when it came to sticking to a Vegan Plant Based Diet, but its all about manipulating the menu and being nice to your waiter lol. I love Mexican Food, and no I do not miss the cheese lol. #ItsALifestyle#VeganEats
One of the most delicious and easiest breakfasts to make... homemade chia pudding ! Choose a plant based milk, add chia seeds, and optional sweetener. 😋 refrigerate overnight, add some berries and you’re ready to go in the morning!
I've posted this before, and will more than likely post it again in the future as it really does speak to me 😍
I had a long chat with someone at the weekend about my past journey with SW, my weight loss, weight gain and reasons I stepped away as a member. It was making me so sad, anxious and in the end, it effected my mental health so badly. I was told that a picture of me at my lowest weight gave this person hope, little did they know that keeping me at that weight was paranoia, lack of food (mainly just surviving off fruit and mugshots FFS!), constant weighing and measuring and a mixture of dulcolax tablets to make me expel my insides on a daily basis. That is by no means healthy... but my Dr and my group were singing my praises as getting my weight down to a healthy BMI - and what harm could a few more lbs lost do to have an even lower BMI??!!! I would also look in the mirror every day and long for a different body, planning the surgery i would have when i FINALLY got to a lower weight. Ultimately I couldn't see the bad habits I was in until I found body positivity and researched how my mental health was affected by the food obsessions. Since I reclaimed my body, my mind and my food choices I have gained weight, yes. But my mind, spirit and heart are so full of love, energy and acceptance. I feel the best I've felt in years ❤❤ #Repost @under_a_healthy_haze
