When I look back through the photos that I captured while travelling overseas there are not all that many sunsets. Considering that I do quite enjoy capturing the sunset this did surprise me somewhat. But when I think about it, getting in the right position to capture the sunset is not always that easy in many cities.
When I visited Venice in Italy, capturing this sunset was kind of an after thought. I had returned to the cruise ship after exploring the town for most of the day and noticed the way the sun and clouds were moving and thought I would see what happened.
The thing was that just 15 minutes before I captured this image I almost headed off for dinner instead of seeing the sunset. Because 15 minutes earlier it was looking like a nothing cloudy end to the day. But there was a hint of colour that kept me watching just in case, and I think you might agree the resulting sunset was quite special.
