SUPERMARKET SNOOP. Happy Friday! That means not only is it nearly the weekend but it’s also time for a game of Supermarket Snoop. Have a swipe to see who this trolley belongs too 👉 #supermarketsnoop
Any chefs out there, have you had any kitchen nightmares or funny stories from your time working in kitchens? I would love to hear them - bet there are some amazing stories out there. I’ve got so many from my time working in restaurants and kitchens - it’s unlike any other kind of workplace. As a starter for ten...I once had a saucepan thrown at my head by a chef 😱
I picked up some gourmet brown rice balls stuffed with salmon, sea veggies, and mushrooms from @mamamusubi at the South Pasadena Farmer’s Market this evening. This truck always has a line, and for a good reason. It is delish! The bean isn’t a fan of seaweed and peeled off the outer layer, but didn’t have an issue with the smaller pieces inside. She devoured hers.
She also enjoyed some dried organic apple rings and some heirloom teardrop tomatoes. Do you have any favorite farmer’s market food truck/prepared dishes your kiddos (or you) love?
Pasta Primavera (Fridge clean out style)
I really love finding a useful purpose for leftover or unused vegetables. Wasting produce drives me crazy! This sauce is a perfect thing to make when you have veggies that are still good but are too soft or mushy to eat raw. I find it so satisfying to clean out my fridge for this sauce.
The vegetables on the ingredient list and quantities are totally interchangeable for what you have in your fridge. According to my husband "there are so many vegetables in this, it's basically a salad".... 🤔
In my opinion the only ingredients it really requires is the onion, fresh tomatoes and jar of sauce, the rest is up to you.
-1/2 of a yellow onion
-1-2 cloves of garlic
-1 small bell pepper
-1/2 cup of mushrooms
-1/2 cup of carrots
-1/2 cup of green beans
-1/2 cup of broccoli
-4 cups of tomato
-1 jar of pasta sauce
-dried basil, salt, pepper, seasoning salt, garlic powder
-whole wheat spaghetti or pasta of your choice
-optional: Parmesan cheese for topping
This sauce keeps very well in the fridge or freezer so feel free to double the recipe for leftovers
-chop all vegetables
-in a large pot sauté chopped onions in olive oil
-add the remaining vegetables and continue to sauté on low heat
-once the vegetables are very soft add the fresh tomatoes, jar of tomato sauce and the seasonings.
-bring this mixture to a boil and then turn the heat way down. The longer you can let the sauce simmer the more flavorful the sauce will become.
-cook spaghetti according to package instructions and top with sauce
I find that the more Whole Foods (not just the food I buy at the store by the same name!) I eat, the fuller I stay through the day. So, tonight my “pasta” was actually Zucchini Noodles that I tossed with English Peas and Grilled Chicken. I sprinkled some Red Pepper Flakes and EBTB and it looks like Christmas on a plate! My dessert was a simple Pumpkin @siggisdairy topped with @ndmedjooldates Pecan Pumpkin Spice Dates, because you can never have too much Pumpkin, and Dates are delicious! After all this good eating, I have no problem closing my eating window! #dinneranddessert#dinnertonight#wholefoods#zoodles
One pan, 15 minutes, and boom you have a lovely weeknight dinner. Having a full time job & having to commute, I need quick and easy meals 💯. The last thing I want to do after a long day at work is spend hours in kitchen cooking and washing dishes! So One pan wonders as well as meal prepping really do the trick for me👍🏻.
One pan lamb chops and apples
2 @ buyranchdirect lamb chops
1 Tbsp @fourthandheart california garlic ghee
1 Tbsp fresh Sage chopped
3 springs fresh thyme
2 gala apples sliced
1/4 cup pomegranates
1/4 cup sliced red onions
1/4 cup @bonafideprovisions turkey bone broth
1 Tbsp @primalpalate amore seasoning
Heat pan with ghee, add salt + pepper + amore seasoning to both sides of lamb chops. Add to pan and cook 3-5 minutes each side (depending on thickness of chops), transfer to plate. In same pan add more ghee, add onions, apples, fresh herbs and cook a few minutes. Add in broth and pork chops to pan with apples and cook for another 3 minutes, until liquid is absorbed.

Busy days, lead to busy nights which can also lead to ordering dinner and potentially some bad decisions... especially since lettuce can apparently kill you now. . .
Since we have veggies on hand, i reached into our vault of recipes and roasted some veggies and chicken sausage for dinner! Bonus - minimal dishes! Which is especially helpful with a teething baby. (Oh who am i kidding, the hubs does the dishes). .
Since our Netflix workout library ALSO has nutrition plans and recipes, it’s easier to avoid death by lettuce these days. #quickdinnerideas#familyapproved#busymomlife#momsofinsta#thelandofliz
#dinnertonight was sweet potato and chick peas roasted in olive oil and harissa powder with a little feta melted on top at the end, in a bed of arugula and sprinkled with avocado. Soo yummy, and I've got a wrap version for lunch tomorrow. 😍😍 #vegetarian#nomeatnoproblem#mealinspo
Shepard’s Pie. Didn’t have any @bison_dip so I couldn’t follow @jessgusmerotti’s awesome suggestion to use it in the mashed potatoes, but it still came out pretty good for a cold winter’s weeknight meal.
My favorite Mac and cheese is homemade, extra saucy, cheesy goodness. Leftovers are a must.
This bad boy has a sauce made of smoked Gouda, white cheddar, cream cheese, and milk. I added some Blazing Buffalo chicken breast for a bit of spice and bacon for crunch.
