Big shout out to The Main Course restaurant in Gullane who, when the electricity failed in the main high street this evening, elegantly served us delicious antipasto with a backdrop of glimmering candles, (no ovens functioning) with charm, fun and great bread #Gullane#eastlothian#dinnerbycandlelight
Anniversary Seven with my beloved. To say today has been a celebration would be a cruel joke. It started off with a sleepless night for both of us as we split up and took a sick baby each. Barrett woke up saying, "Mommy, my ear turn off" so we made a quick visit to the pediatric urgent care to take a look at his ears. Double ear infections later, we were home with a temporarily deaf son and a daughter who would cough and follow it up with, "Mommy, I have coffee" (she's trying for coughy, which don't tell her that it isn't a word because it's adorable) Our anniversary dinner was homemade steak, smash sweet potatoes, and garlic breaded cauliflower in the hallway while our babies bathed in the bathroom -by candlelight. Yet, I wouldn't have it any way else.
My @spraggeth here is to those 77 more years. I love you so much more than I did on 11.11.11, I can't even imagine how much more I will love you on 11.11.2095. Even if you are mostly robotic by then 😁
The kitchen has to go....and bring on Daring.
I can’t bear our kitchen, it’s so bad I have to turn the lights off before I enter. We’ve never eaten so many takeaways and dinners out!
Many people would love it, it’s traditional and apparently the vaulted section is part of the original threshing barn, but the downside is it’s got very tiny windows and therefore lacks natural light, I’m also not too keen on off the shelf traditional style kitchens so I’m afraid it’s going to have the boot in the New Year.
It’s not an easy space to redesign, in fact the whole of the barn is a challenge but I’m never one to take the easy road. 😩
Over the years I’ve squirrelled and bought a lot of fine artwork and I’ve been looking at ways to dispose of it or include it in the interiors here in Cockington; and so I’m thinking of incorporating some of the paintings into the kitchen design.
I’ve found a selection of kitchens which do this brilliantly, many of the pics are courtesy @devolkitchens a superb kitchen supplier- see what you think.
I’ve noted down a few ideas you may like to try when you refurbish your kitchen...
They’re different, not the norm but you can find normal anywhere can't you?

www.facebook.com/parkeinteriors Whatever your style try and be a bit more adventurous as kitchens can be quite glam, and remember DARING is way more fun than off the peg ; and most probably a lot cheaper too 😊 #kitchendesign#kitchenrefurb#kitcheninterior#interiordesign#art#artinthekitchen#bespokekitchens#devolkitchens#lifeofaninteriordesigner#cockington#saturdaynightvibes#saturdaynighttakeaway#saturdaynightdinner#dinnerbycandlelight#antiques#painting#uniquedesign#oneoff #
I’ve been privileged enough to see these chandeliers deconstructed for cleaning over the Goldsmiths’ Hall summer recess. It’s a lengthy process where each component part is individually removed, laid out, cleaned and then placed back into position. What is wonderful to experience is when they are winched up, back up to ceiling height, to take their place in working order and display - and all the glass elements jingle. It makes for a magical sound. To have the privilege to dine underneath them by candlelight is something special. #dinnerbycandlelight#diningbycandlelight#chandelier#candlelight
I'm feeling all of these cozy winter vibes! Also, there's something kind of... renaissence-y about this table set up that I really love.
