I started my day the same as most weekends - while the girls were eating their breakfast I checked the weather forecast to work out outfits and plans for the day - sunny with an evening thunderstorm. So we took full advantage of the sunshine by enjoying some surf and sand and prepared dinner slightly earlier than usual, you know, just in case we had a blackout.
The girls took their time eating their dinner, they were busy singing and chatting. "You dont want to be eating in the dark if we have a blackout, come on girls" was said more than once. And while the three big girls were still munching away the lights all went out 🙄
Here's my time to shine, the candle queen 👑 I have enough candles to light our whole suburb... ok maybe not that many, but I definitely always need more smelly candles. It's a curse. Not to me because I love them, but to hubby's exceptionally sensitive nostrils 🙊
We set the girls up with a battery operated candle each to navigate the house, because as much as I love candles, I also love not burning our house down 😅 also, children and fire and such 💁♀️ And with their "candles" the girls got themselves all set up with cushions and books and had a really good time reading together before bed time.
Honestly, if you dont have any battery operated pillar candles, get some! 🕯 -
My original plan for this trip was to stop in London for a few days. Though I have a great love for this city, it was more important to spend as much time with my grandparents as I could.
So, with only one night in London before returning to Canada, I made the best of it.
My favourite restaurant (quite fairly) doesn’t open Mondays. Lucky for me I found this spot, where I had really great roasted lamb.
A Place at the Table
The first of many for @beaufodor I’m sure! What a gorgeous setting, and of course the meal was perfection! The botanicals on the table setting all came from host @mccoyforiowa yard and gardens. I’m so happy to play a small part in these meals that help bring people together to meet and realize they all have a place at the table and always have things in common no matter what. .
