Quinoa is the super food of this decade. With everyone obsessing over this protein-rich, low-calorie grain, Quinoa has taken the center stage whether it comes to breakfast options or desserts.
Quinoa has become such a fad despite the carbon footprint associated with it. Our locally grown amaranth is not only higher in protein but higher in micronutrient as well but sadly it doesn’t get as much attention as it should. Guys it’s nothing else but simply the rajgeera chikki you get at railway station.
Be local be healthy !
Amaranthus may well be translated into "amar" in Hindi, with its Sanskrit roots, that which does not die or literally fade/wilt. The name is significant for a species which is now being regarded as the new superfood - an enhancer of life and health. It has higher mineral content - calcium, iron, phosphorus and most importantly manganese than most other vegetables; more protein per cup than oats, important amino acids, more digestible proteins than wheat, more fiber and less carbs.
So now if you go to a supermarket you know what superfood you need to pick.
