Happy Monday! Listen up for this week’s exercise. 😃
Hope you had a nice weekend and that you’ve been doing the “YOLO” exercise. Continue to do it when you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed,indecisive, etc. 
This week’s exercise is engaging with people you see on a daily basis. Whether it the people who work on your office floor, the bus driver that drops you off at your stop everyday or someone you always see when you’re getting your coffee. Start off slowly by saying hi, good morning or have a good day. You’ll never know what this can lead you too. You can make a best friend or open new networking opportunities. Before saying engaging, remember to say yolo! ☺️

I often reflect on my relationship to uncertainty and to the unknown. I’ve been blessed with many life circumstances that have called on me to ‘Trust’ the bigger plan.
.
And it’s time again - to give up my comfort zone, my home and venture into the unknown.
.
This year has been exceptionally demanding - Faith is the only virtue that has gotten me through without actually losing my mind. I have been called to dig DEEP and surrender.
.
Every time I’m thrown in the deep end, I become more resilient.
.
I have learnt that the certainty I crave can only come through my spiritual practice and my connection to myself.
.
When we find that connection, a resilience follows. One that feels grounded even when all on the outside shifts and changes.
.
As it always does!

Freedom. Expansion. Trust. Creativity. Flow. To me, that is the essence of this photo. .
It has been my intention in 2018 to cultivate these states of being, these core desired feelings. I have put my focus on how I WANT TO FEEL and hot damn, it’s working. ⠀⠀

I feel free, expansive, trusting, creative, and in a state of flow a lot of the time. Definitely not all of the time. But I choose to do things that support me feeling good and that makes all the difference.
⠀⠀

⠀⠀
For example, I go on daily walks because nature makes me feel connected to something greater than myself. Moving my body releases stuck energy and emotions and I can shift into a higher vibrational state. .
⠀⠀
I read and watch things that elevate me instead of making me feel scared, anxious, fearful. You are what you eat, and that includes the media you consume. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
But I still get down in the dumps. I snap at my hubs and we get into petty disagreements. I still eat junk food. I still watch too much TV. I forget to meditate. I sleep too much or not enough. I let people get under my skin and have road rage. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
I am not perfect. Life is not perfect. But life can be joyful and you can be happy in spite of your circumstances. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
But I’ve stopped thinking that happiness is a destination, something I need to get to one day, and instead, realized HAPPINESS IS RIGHT HERE. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
We are in charge of our happiness. We can decide, in any moment, to feel good and be happy. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
That doesn’t mean that shit isn’t going to happen. We will experience loss, anger, fear, sadness, anxiety. We will go through situations that bring up pain. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
But we can still decide to feel joyful, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
We can stop and admire a beautiful flower as we walk to the car. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
We can take deep breaths in the bathroom stall and connect with our inner peace during a stressful day at work. ⠀⠀
.
⠀⠀
We can watch funny YouTube videos and laugh out loud in between crying spells on an especially tough day. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀
The more that we focus on intentionally creating moments of joy throughout the day, the more our days will be filled with joy. ⠀⠀ More below👇

I mean- I used to not be a morning person..
I’d hit snooze repeatedly (or just sleep right through it)
I’d carry my dreams with me into my waking life
My external circumstances were what set the tone of my day
.
Somewhere between having kids and becoming self employed, I realized the power of mornings. Demands are virtually non existent when the whole house is asleep. Distraction hardly exists. Will power is at its peak. The perfect opportunity to design my day, zone in on what matters most, and be intentional about how I want to feel. This is a non negotiable part of my self care!
.
Tip: these little mister bottles are perfection for when you’re getting out of bed and haven’t made it to the sink to fill your diffuser yet 😆 I’ve got Balance + Litsea in this one and I must say, it’s divine! Powerhouse duo for makin’ things happen✨

So often we get caught up in our to-do lists, the things we “have” to do, or the things that we need to do for others. We forget that our own happiness is an important part of our overall well-being too!

So i encourage you to focus on doing one thing that will make YOU smile. That could be spending time with your significant other instead of working late, indulging in your favorite dessert (yes you heard me), spending time with your family, taking time out to relax and get a massage, taking a walk on your lunch break to get some ☀️, catching up with a friend, treating yourself to your favorite boutique workout class, you name it!

When we focus on things that cultivate joy in our lives, we feel more fulfilled, connected and less stressed.

Thoughts as I end my first day back in India. Again.

I love my life but I choke up constantly - at this uncertainty, the absurdity of it all, this fight to live the life I choose.
.
I love my life, but I’m not always grateful for this challenge. I resent it often. The unknown.
.
But, I gently remind myself - It’s ok to love your life and NOT always be OK.
.
It calms my restless heart. A little.
.
I rest in this knowing - This too will flow. Life flows. Always.

Eating, training, living intuitively isn’t part of my history. In fact, just the opposite. Calculated food consumption was the norm back in the day.
.
Left -2104: 12-13% body fat, 53kgs - Weighing food, counting calories, obsessing over macros, training 2xday. Looking for external validation i.e. struggling with self acceptance.
.
There is nothing wrong in wanting a great body/physique. Asking yourself WHY is a good question?
.
My desire for one was driven by lack of self acceptance and a deep disconnect in other areas of my life. Achieving my ‘perfect body’ did not make my life any better. I’m happier and more fulfilled as a result of very conscious, difficult life choices. Losing weight, being thin or looking a certain way just doesn’t cut it.
.
Right-2018- Don’t know what weight or body fat %. Roughly 7-8kgs heavier. I don’t really care anymore, I judge the quality of my life by how I feel, not by how I look. I eat healthily to nourish my body. I also enjoy foods that nourish my spirit -chocolate, ice-cream, wine and the rest. I train for energy, vitality, strength, fun and play. Not for an aesthetic goal.

My happiness and fulfillment is a result of a deeply connected and aligned life.
.
This isn’t a body transformation post, this is my journey of self acceptance. It’s about freedom from my self limiting belief about my self worth - one that was hugely connected to how I looked.

This is about creating an aligned and fulfilling life - where our health is a conduit for massive life changes and fulfillment but isn’t defined by our weight or shape.

Why? Because it doesn’t matter.

We are so much more than the size of our bodies and I’m on a mission to help people breakthrough the obsession with controlling food to fit into a mould of physical attributes that aren’t realistic or sustainable for most of us.

Eating healthy and staying active is a gift, but fighting to fit into the society’s ideals of perfection and beauty is a self limiting belief.

We often fall prey to the belief that if our circumstances were different we would be happier. We wish for someone else’s life. Hmmm, wouldn’t it get old pretty quick? If you’re conscious enough to want to go on a diet - you know those foods ain’t nourishing you.

The whole premise of Intuitive Eating is to take compulsory restriction off the table. But, you stay tuned into your body. Your hunger. Your fullness and your satisfaction cues.

The diet mentality is what disconnects us from our basic instincts like hunger and fullness. We were not born disconnected from them. It’s more of a learnt behavior. Because this is what is sold to us – that trusting your own instincts will take you down the rabbit hole of weight gain but trusting a diet, won’t! The science says otherwise 🤔

Yes, there is going to be a learning curve. The longer you have spent restricting and controlling food, the longer it may take to start trusting yourself again, but ultimately Intuitive Eating is what will get you closer to freedom from diet and deprivation.

Restricting ➡️ Bingeing ➡️ Restricting ➡️ Shame and guilt isn’t the healthier option.

Most people make the same cognitive leap when they hear about intuitive eating – if you just ate whatever you wanted, would you not just eat pizza and ice-cream all day? . Really? Will you? . If the restriction and the stigma attached to these foods was taken away, will you really still crave them all the time? . Hmmm, wouldn’t it get old pretty quick? If you’re conscious enough to want to go on a diet - you know those foods ain’t nourishing you. . The whole premise of Intuitive Eating is to take compulsory restriction off the table. But, you stay tuned into your body. Your hunger. Your fullness and your satisfaction cues. . The diet mentality is what disconnects us from our basic instincts like hunger and fullness. We were not born disconnected from them. It’s more of a learnt behavior. When we give energy away willingly, intentionally, with positivity, we get stronger. We become truer, purer, bigger. Power-full.

When we give our energy away unconsciously, under duress, as we are victimized, or taken advantage of, when we over-give out of a sense of deficiency or obligation, we don’t get stronger. We constrict, we get depleted, we start to stiffen from fear.

You are always in relationship with your life force. Ideally, you want access to your FULL life force. Not just half it because some of your power is on obligation-loan to the needy, or stuck in a past life, or knotted up with the person who did you wrong, or tangled up in dreading the future. Painful events create fissures that your power gets trapped in. You want to empty those pockets and get your gold back.
