Flashback to a very fun Joshua Tree Traverse earlier this year. While I’m not headed to JT, I’ll be seeing some more cactus, and some clouds, very soon. Just less sun and a lot less company. Can anyone guess where I’m going? 💁🏼♂️
6 Miles of Texas Desert 🌵
7 Shooting Stages.
2 River Crossings.
1 Hot as Hell Sun 🌞 ...and a damn good time.
I spent the weekend in west Texas for a Run ‘n Gun competition. The rules are simple: run fast, shoot straight, and carry all the equipment you need yourself - no outside help.
A true test of man and equipment.
I ran out of water on the mile 3. I had 2 of my pistol mags fail on me because they filled up with sand on a low crawl. The runner in front of me almost got bitten by a rattlesnake.
It’s an experience like no other - I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat, in fact, I will in a few weeks. Stay tuned 😏👊🏼
Let me be clear; this was NOT today. This was me reminiscing over a run that happened almost three years ago.
Today was day 1 of a new lifting and HIIT program and then one short and slow mile at a 10’24” pace as I continue to work towards finding my running legs (which, by the way, are still so sore from Saturday’s run). I consider myself in pretty good shape, but running is a completely different beast that I plan to tackle.
No more reminiscing. I know with time and effort, I’ll get back to that. One.mile.at.a.time.

Are you a sunrise, runrise, sunset or runset kinda person? Or all of the above? These cutehearts, Adam and Elise, have once again captured our hearts and taken our breath away with this magnificent moment in time!
#youcancountonmefall2018 is so necessary! I spend all day pushing kids to work hard but they don’t always listen 😐 My new favorite thing has become sharing words of encouragement to adults just for showing up! It’s magical- so much so that the words often come back to me 💕
Ten years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, prediabetes and high cholesterol. Taking medication just wasn’t for me so I started running and lost 20 lbs. Ten of them have found their way back to me and the high blood pressure is back. So I’m back on the road. For me it’s not about looking a certain way anymore. It’s about participating in things that are good for me. So here I go. My goal is to lose ten pounds and get off the meds again. And I’d love to run another 5k @bettylovesgymyoga @reneeraqsandruns #run#yogisrun#fridayrun#desertrun#elpasorun#couchto5k
It amazes me that people actually like this sport! It requires far too much mental and physical pain. The excuses, the alternatives...but I’ve said I’ll do it, so I’ll do it (thanks to @laurenmortonadventures // @team.likeagirl telling me I could do anything!!) - 150 miles in the Jordanian desert over 5 days. I’m on training run #9 so I’d hardly call that training but with 5 weeks to go, there’s still time to win!! Hare and the tortoise and all that!
Thanks to @zululou for getting me up and back on it after 6 weeks. Anyone else in the Wimbledon, Putney, Richmond area, give me a shout if you have nothing better to do. If you make me go fast enough I won’t talk, I promise 🤣. 4 miles at pace 11:15 - it’s no sprint! .
