I woke up at 6am this morning, after going to bed at 1am, after waking up at 3am. I put in about 12 hours each day working with clients, networking, traveling, consulting, designing, strategizing and fundraising. Mix in there working out, training to become a pro athlete, dance rehearsal, and oh yeah being a full-time single mom. Lacrosse practice, gymnastics, school projects, birthday parties, play dates and minor emergencies like mending foot injuries after stepping on broken glass and finding replacement sweatshirts after bleaching her favorite. And maybe just MAYBE occasionally I get some sleep or go out on a date. What goes on behind the scenes in my life goes un-seen. What you see is the fun. The sizzle. The highlight reel. What you don’t see is the daily judgement I receive. What you don’t see is the struggle between being the breadwinner AND the homemaker in my family. What you don’t see is the lonely nights by myself and the constant worry of being enough.
But I choose to rise up.
I choose to not be the victim.
I choose to live a full life, unapologetically.
I choose to share with you so many pieces and parts of my story because I KNOW I’m not alone in this.
I choose to be a voice and an advocate for women just like me who question every day if they’re enough.
I choose to ignore the criticism and judgement—often from those closest to me because I KNOW that at the end of the day, I LIVED. So go ahead. Cast your stones. Place judgement on my decisions as a mom, as a business owner, as a single woman. Judge away my darlings. I’ll still love you. But I will implore you to take a deeper look at yourself and your own choices or lack there of.
Stop apologizing for who you are or playing small for fear of who you might become.
Just be you. And if everyone else judges you for it, more power to you for going for it anyway. Cause you my darling are strong and brave and bold and fearless. You stood when everyone else sat. You turned left when everyone else turned right. You rose and you fought and you became all that you were meant to become. And you didn’t apologize. And for that my love, I applaud you. I honor you. I love you. #justbe#nojudgement#stopjudging
We went on a tour of the Denver Metro area today, taking pictures for @queenerlawdenver ‘s new website and Facebook page, culminating in a champagne toast containing an actual hibiscus flower! I love this city with all my heart! It shames the rest of the country with its beauty and the joy it brings me!
Home, sweet home. I pretty much live at Red Rocks every summer and I try to look at this rock, from this vantage point, every time I'm there. I try to think about where I am in life in that exact moment and compare it to the times before. It's humbling how so much can change yet this rock stays the same. #redrocksamphitheater#denver#livemusic
