Yates Building, Albert Street, Auckland CBD.
The former Yates shop and warehouse is one of the earliest reinforced concrete buildings in Auckland and is an important example of early 21st century commerce in the City.
The two parts of the building represent the business function - retail shop and offices off Albert Street and the warehouse around the corner off Wolfe Street. Both parts are directly connected with a through site link.
The warehouse is currently being demolished which significantly reduces the heritage value of the whole. The functional warehouse structure would have had numerous options for adaptive re-use but once again the site value is the driver behind its loss.
The retained multi storey shop and office is important and only survives because it is scheduled with Auckland Council as a Category B building.
