Hello $100,000!! I can do #nophoneforayear #contest !!! I would definitely be more productive at work, sleeping earlier, and sooo much more focus on family!! It would be like childhood and only having a house phone and an answering machine. I could read all those books on my night stand. I would be in the moment instead of always trying to capture it. Could you do it? #thiscouldbeinteresting #daveramseyapproved

Ouch. Rachel coming in hot!

We want to give our kids everything we didn’t have growing up, but that doesn’t mean we should live above our means in order for this to happen. Kids are so creative and will often have more fun with the box than the toy inside. I’m looking forward to spending quality time with my son as he grows up. For me it’s more about that than material possessions.

What a savings! It would have been more but I deducted the amount for the membership fee for our savings. I think my mind is made up! Thank you Debt Free Community for your help

Read “The 7 Mistakes Couples Make in the First Year of Marriage,” and had to giggle at the money related issues. This DEFINITELY does not describe us, thanks to my obsession with Dave Ramsey and #debtfreecommunity. That one about chores though...gotta be honest, it’s been brought up a lot recently. 🐨

I am looking at ways to improve my budget. What would you guys do? Would you sign up to Costco for $60 to take advantage of the massive fuel discounts? I also know it’s the same fuel as half the other service stations in town because my step dad drops it off

I still *vividly* remember praying for help. Praying for an answer. Praying for some kind of job to help with our finances. I felt so hopeless because there was no where close by that could pay me enough to make it worth it after I paid a sitter. I have no degree (not something I regret) but knew I needed to do something. After being prayed over, God opened a bunch of doors for us, one being Plexus. Through all this, we have learned to be better stewards with our money and actually have a savings. It's not amazing but it's so much better than before! 😂 If you've been praying for an answer, this could be it. #hope #networkmarketing #plexus #daveramseyapproved #morganstanley #newfuture #sahm #wahm

Had to cut our grocery bill down to $100 a week. Let’s give this challenge a go! Right now I have majority of the items on this list and everything set for lunches till next week. I’ve cut down on what fresh produce I normally buy because I don’t tend to eat it all and it goes off. I downloaded an app called #FridgePal and spent the afternoon going through my entire kitchen and uploading it all to this app to make meal planning easier.

Today I took a mental health day for myself. I stayed home from work since I now have sick leave. I’ve been getting really bad tension headaches for the past two weeks where I have needed to use an ice pack on my head. I got my car serviced and found out I have 5,000km till my brakes need to be replaced - that’s 10 weeks worth of driving. I also made a meal plan for the next two weeks.

I’m going to cry. The shitty news just keeps coming. This is the second time we’ve gotten a rent increase notification in 3 months.

Thank god I saved our flybuys dollars over the year! It will pay for our groceries over Christmas break. I’m really struggling with becoming more frugal and cutting back my lifestyle even more because we just can’t afford it.

I got paid! Two weeks worth of work finally in my account. I couldn’t sleep properly because I just wanted to pay our bills. I’ll take another look at our budget at work today to prioritise and make sure we don’t run out of money!

I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning waiting to get paid. Minimum payments on our loans, and instead of getting my hair done I put that money on my credit card for the month. This is our debt. Interest has been applied to both loans as well as their administration costs. This last few weeks I haven’t stuck to my budget so our debt is higher than last month.

Ok #debtfreecommunity , we need your help! For the longest, we’ve done variable for our gas but we’re considering going to fixed especially after this $200 bill we just received. We don’t blast our heat (typically keeping it on 67/68 unless we have visitors coming over). What has worked for you guys??

I’m not mean I’m honest, very rarely do I actually comment on other people’s posts and it’s usually a woohoo for them because I’m proud of what they have done for themselves 😂 fuck off if you don’t like my shit, if you think I’m a bully I would hate to see how you actually handle someone being a cunt towards you 💁🏼‍♀️ #Welcometotheinternet #SaltySusan

Want to get better with money? Here are a few things you can try:
Start budgeting. Start reducing your fixed expenses. Eliminate those variable expenses. Shop around for new insurance quotes. Stop going out to eat at restaurants. Stop buying new clothes. Save your money. Build up an emergency fund. Throw extra money at debt or investments.
•
You can always improve your current situation by starting today no matter what area of your life you are trying to improve.

Prior to this year, I had never been able to achieve this goal before due to financial obligations or other priorities. Happy days!
•
For 2019, the IRS have raised the limit to $6,000 a year. Guess who will be raising his ante next year? That’s $500 a month for the math nerds out there. Pro tip: Set up automatic investments at the beginning of the month so you don’t even have the chance to be stupid with it.

Honestly, I’m so excited and I’m a tightwad when it comes to electric, heat, water, etc.. so 199 for gas heat, electric, water, trash, and sewer for a month.. So the extra 110 I had budgeted I’ll put to either debt or savings yeah I’ll take it 😁

After a year of pen and paper budgeting, we are finally deciding to go digital. Nothing wrong with pen and paper, but we have gotten really comfortable aka lazy. Our budget rarely changes so we are never in a rush to do it. Sometimes the budget doesn’t get done until after we’ve gotten paid (no bueno). It literally took me 3 minutes to create a Google spreadsheet that we can simply copy and paste from month to month and make changes as we need to.

From January we’ll be seeing a marriage counsellor. It’s a fee based on my income and I told them I couldn’t afford the higher fee so they dropped it down. We’re going through Relationships Australia. I’ve been on a waiting list for 6 months now with another month before I can get in. Today I feel absolutely ready to walk out on my marriage but I have no where to go and no savings behind me to do it. Hubby didn’t go to work again today and to be honest, I don’t know when he will go. I’ve told him we have no money for Christmas. I shouldn’t have taken this new job, the pay cut is too dramatic for one income.

I love home improvement shows. Chip and Jo are my jam.. but I took a hammer through a wall trying to save a buck on our kitchen renovation and “do it myself” as they say.. turns out i did not save a buck and it will cost double triple quadruple to fix the damage I did than if I just hired someone to do it in the first place. We are getting a new kitchen backsplash for Christmas and skipping Christmas cards this year to help make up for (a little of) it, so Merry Christmas everyone !! Heres one of the super cute pics I was saving for the cards 🎁🎄 💸 #daveramseyapproved

I use @thezigziglar wheel of life model to create my goals for each area of my life. I create annual goals and then I break these down month by month.
•
Why do I set goals?
How do I know what goals to create?
How do I prioritize these goals?
How do I keep track of these goals?

I will answer all of these questions and more in my next blog with a few examples from 2018. Let me know if you have any questions in relation to this for me to include in my blog. Thanks!

So this fortnight I definitely had to work my second job to make the budget meet. I have $38.69 left over to go back into baby step 1’s $1,000. I’m considering cancelling my hair appointment but I feel like I really need to pamper and actually do something to make myself feel better about life.

Our apartment is so hot, it’s like a sauna and causing me to have migraines. We live on the third floor of a concrete building with the sun on it all day every day. We don’t have aircon or heating, so today we caved and bought a portable evap unit for $94.

When my husband got out of active duty earlier this year he swore to be out forever. 👋🏻 However, after learning more about healthcare (aka me educating him 👩🏻‍🏫and him seeing my insane healthcare bills 🤦🏻‍♀️🚑🏥🚨) he realized that the national guard would be a small sacrifice for affordable ( #free ) quality healthcare for us and one day, our family. I know everyone may not have this option, but for us it is worth the one weekend a month and two weeks a year. I am so fucking fed up with my roster changing.... 9pm last night it was blank, this morning it’s not.. I’m so tired I don’t even want to go earn an extra $100 today. My new medication to relax my overactive bladder hasn’t kicked in yet so I still need to try and pee every 4 times an hour. I’ve texted the boss asking her if I’m still working but no response.

This was my most used cc for going on four years now. One of the perks was that you could pay a 1/3 of whatever balance was on the statements and it was interest free... that got out of hand real quick when I accepted the offer to upgrade it and use it in any store, not just Belk, and didn’t realize it was not interest free unless it was purchased from Belk. Uh oh 💸 Now they’re trying to reel me back in 🙄 There is still a $6600 balance on this card, and I can’t wait till it’s gone.

Hello Murphy, and thanks so much.. my car got really jacked up by some jerk that didn’t leave a note. So now that’s 500 dollars.. I had just started by new job too! My first full paychecks on the 15th ugh, sucks that this happened.. honestly there’s 5500 on my credit card now and I don’t even feel bad about it since it’s a 0% apr card till November 2019.. with the move, my car, christmas, and well just life this happened. I plan to pay this card off by the end of March and keep a low balance on it because I like the cash back on my card.. Then I plan to up my payments on my car from 350 a month to 812 to get it paid off ASAP so I can have it paid off then sell it for a bigger family vehicle all the while I plan to set aside 200 a bucks in a savings account while I’m paying off my car to have more money to go towards the new car so I can buy it out right.. my minimum payment on my car is technically only 211.04 but I pay more already. My husbands student loans are minimum payment of 109 but we’ve only been paying 120 because of me switching my job and the move.. Once the beginning of the year I plan to up this amount to 350 a month to have this hopefully paid off in 2 and a half years versus 10... life’s crazy lately. What’s new with you all?

The only hard part about ING is I can’t tell the difference between my cards because they’re both orange 😂 so I had to keep the stickers and make labels

#wednesdaywisdom Life happens to all of us.
•
How will you overcome adversity? Will you give up? Or will you strive to work through the tough times and as a result become stronger?
•
Anytime I am working through a tough time, I take a step back and follow a quick process to clear my mind so I can be the strong husband or father that I need to be. I write it out, think about potential options, shift my mindset, and get support from those who I can depend on. We often listen to the narrative in our heads instead of listing out the facts. Remember you can only control your thoughts and your actions.

Go Australia! ASIC is saying if you can’t pay it back in 3 years, it’s not a suitable product for you and you shouldn’t be issued a card!

Our emergency fund is gone because hubby doesn’t work and I had to switch to fortnightly pays. I honestly have no idea at this point in time when I can get it back up to 100%. I’ve had a massive pay cut and being the sole income earner for the both of us. I’ll have to do more hours at my second job for us to financially get ahead.

One more week till payday, this whole fortnightly pay thing is awful 😩

I have this cool ass Australian app called fuel map Australia. It shows me the fuel prices and allows me to view petrol prices around town. We drove another 5 minutes to save so much money!

#tiptuesday A client asked me recently how I stay motivated during Baby Step 6.
•
My answer: The process. I am a project manager for my day job and I need a sequence of events in order to be the most productive at work. That’s why Dave Ramsey’s plan has been the perfect fit for me. I’ve honestly enjoyed the challenge of each step and ultimately how this has strengthened my relationship with my wife. This process is a lifestyle change. It will teach you contentment, sacrifice, discipline and intentionality. This will bleed over into other areas of your life and have a positive affect in those areas if you embrace the self development aspect of the journey.
•
My challenge to you is to think about your why. Then falling in love with the process will be easy as you have a bigger reason for your short term sacrifice.

Got to drive around in our new wheels - hello $1 coffee pit stop!
I have had a bunch of questions about our new (to us) car and how a car is @daveramsey approved ☑️ I tend to get self conscious posting about budget related things because I am relatively new to the Dave Ramsey program and we are still on a learning curve, so this post is coming from a place of sharing our experience and answering some FAQ, not judging others financial choices or claiming to be budget pros over here 🙅🏻‍♀️

• What?
We purchased a newer version of our old vehicle, a Ford Flex.
• Why?
We loved our 2009 and then we sold it last year and purchased a pick up truck and a minivan. Recently my husband got a work vehicle 🙌 so we are going down to one personal vehicle to reduce insurance and maintenance costs. We decided a newer model of our old favourite was the way to go, and a good compromise between truck and mom mobile 😉
• Dave Ramsey Approach:
A #daveramseyapproved car is one that is paid for with cash. We figured out what we could sell our two vehicles for and made a budget for our new car, new snow tires and rims, and money left over for our car account savings. We searched used car ads and waited till we found one that fit our budget.
• Budgeting:
Trust me when I say I totally get budgeting isn’t always easy... how many times did I try to tell myself “hmm... only this little bit more would get us this, or that” ... it’s a slippery slope! But saving up for our last few car purchases and getting rid of car payments has been the best thing for our budget, and essential since going down to one income (there is zero room for a car payment in our current budget). Now instead of a payment we allot money towards a car savings account for future vehicle needs (car maintenance bills 😑) and purchases.
——
I hope that answers some questions, anything else I missed feel free to ask! 😊 Also, @daveramsey shares his tips for buying a car on his website which goes into more detail about the process we followed.

I’m $1,400 short to cover the amount we would have been paid if we worked. I’m exhausted already and it’s only the 4th of December

We are not eligible for government assistance for psychiatrist treatment. Our claim was rejected by Medicare. Hubby had one psychologist appointment today $175 with an $84 rebate and another one in two weeks time for $200 with an $84 rebate. He also has another psychiatrist appointment this month but he hasn’t told me the date.

EDIT/UPDATE: he fucking went home after dropping me off. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. Guess who got hubby out the door at 8am! (Swipe right!) I needed his help getting to work today and he offered to drive me instead of me catching the bus. He’s in a filthy mood about it now 😂 and pretty sure he regrets his decision now. I also think he hasn’t been taking his medication the last few days so I’ve picked up his prescription for the new stronger medication and I’ll get that done today. If I have to go back to giving to him every morning I will.

Budget flaw #1 people spend their money before they have it, “oh I’ll just pay that back later when I get paid” NO money doesn’t work like that! Debt works like that

What’s my goal for December you? Survival. That’s all I care about. Making it through this month with my sanity.

Hubby has his first psychologist appointment this afternoon and I finally got a call back from Relationships Australia. I’ve been on the waiting list for a very very long time, like we’re talking more than 6 months, they have to do an “intake” call before we can book an appointment with them so I’ll get hubby to do that this afternoon. Today I’m not feeling so okay, I feel too sad to cry and just so blue. I’m angry that I’m the sole income earner. I feel so taken advantage of and I feel I can’t do anything about it. 17 more days till I have some time off from work, I really need time to recoup my life, plan, finances and self.

So a lot in my life has happened since I last posted! We have moved into our house and it’s costed a lot more than we anticipated but it’s okay.. thank god for 0% apr credit cards and the overtime our jobs allow us to work once I get done with my “training” that’s for the next 5 weeks. I have been able to pay more down on my car my minimum payment is 211.04 but I pay a solid 350 a month now the extra goes towards principal only luckily.. once mid January rolls around I’ll be done with training and can move that up to 800 like I was wanting too. I want to pay the car off by 2020 (hopefully) and hopefully get my husband’s student loans paid off by 2021 we’re also saving 200 a month in a savings account to save for 3-4 years for a down payment on a house till I can up that savings amount to 500 once my car is paid off and once my husband’s student loans are paid off I want to start a vacation fund for us to celebrate our hard work and dedication to the debt free journey. We have 4500 on the credit card right now which blows but we got all of Christmas taken care of now and all the house stuff we needed so now it’s just paying it back.. interest free :) haha the picture is just a joke because I love the office.
