This is my fav video of today.
Cuttlefish upgrade to be one of my fav sea creatures liao. This is just so cute.
And he is super photogenic. Stay there for me to take photo.
Upon looking at the video, I realise it is sleeping. And probably getting away from me. 😅
"Cuttlefish rely on their incredible camouflaging abilities to avoid predators, changing color almost instantaneously to match their surroundings—a pretty neat trick for an animal that's colorblind." http://mentalfloss.com/article/66759/10-colorful-facts-about-cuttlefish
Man Fai 文輝 apparently serves the best Chiu Chow-style cuttlefish ball noodles soup in town 🦑🍜. The place is always packed and like most shops in HK, do expect to share tables with other people while ordering in your broken Cantonese 🈴🈴. Some of the popular items are written in English, on the wall so point at them if you must 🤓. Beware of the chilli sauce, it's super spicy 🌶! But it did make our noodles soup taste a lot better.
Ian's Nori 4 Treasure came with an abundance of rice noodles, alongside baby cuttlefish, squid tentacles, fish ball and fish wonton. My Nori 8 Treasure was even more generous with so many things that I was sort of guessing the identity of each item. There were sliced fish 🍥, fish wonton 🐠, fish dumpling 🥟, baby cuttlefish 🦑, squid tentacles 👾, pork ball 🐽, fish ball ⚽️ and cuttlefish ball 🏐. Everything was tasty with different textures and I especially loved chewy baby cuttlefish 😻. Although white cuttlefish balls were their signature dish, I wasn't a fan. They were too firm, definitely had some sort of flour contribute to the over-the-top chewiness. The off-white fish balls were more natural in taste and texture but then again there was nothing really natural about these balls 😌. Neither of us appreciated the overwhelming seaweed taste and had to drown the fishiness out with chilli sauce 🌶. The soup instantly became more flavoursome and enjoyable. It was super spicy though, which I loved. Ian... not so much. A good place for a good meal that won't break the bank, might break your stomach though. There were a LOT of noodles!
PS: Watching the uncle prepare noodles was more impressive than eating them. The instant he removed cooked noodles out of the pot of boiling hot water with his right hand, he placed them in a bowl while the left hand immediately scooped up a heap of cold noodles and placed them in the ladle. And the process continued. Non-stop. 👏
