“Vacant,” 2017 by British artist @TanaTorrent.art as part of “Transfiguration.” I’m particularly excited about Tana, as an upcoming artist. She owns a swift ability to swing between styles. Check her talk during the launch salon on my IGTV, read her Openletr’s interview, and take a look at the “Transfiguration” show on Artsy. // Interview: https://www.openletr.co/find-your-truth/swinging-between-styles-tana-torrent4242018 // Transfiguration Show: https://www.artsy.net/show/undercurrent-projects-transfiguration-curated-by-fatima-bocoum
Some exciting news... I’m very honoured to be part of this award; just to be recognised alongside a group of outstanding contemporary artists. After a short delay in proceedings, the final selection of 5 will be announced this Friday!
Artists from all regions across the UK have been nominated by curators Melanie Keen, Hannah Firth, Hugh Mullholland, Katrina Brown and Sunny Cheung from the UK contemporary art scene.
A jury made up of Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Director of the Serpentine Gallery, Claire Lilley, Director of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Andrew Nairne, Director of Kettle’s Yard at the University of Cambridge, Fiona Bradley, Director of the Fruitmarket Gallery and Aurélie Deplus, Head of Contemporary Art Sponsorship at Societe Generale, will then select five finalists.
The final jury decision of the overall winner will be announced at a “do” at the V&A in London in February 2019. First prize: £15,000. Second prize: Nowt.
