“Don’t be beautiful... Be intelligent, be witty, be klutzy, be interesting, be funny, be adventurous, be crazy, be talented - There are an eternity of other things to be other than beautiful... Be your own definition of amazing, always. That is so much more important than anything beautiful, ever.” Nikita Gill
How many times do we put ourselves down because we don’t think we fit in with what society expects of us? Or what we think of as beautiful? I used to fit the Californian beach babe type model - You know, long blond hair etc... I even dyed my hair blond once... NOT a good look 😂 Then I realised it was much more fun, & much more freeing to say sod it & allow my outside to be a mirror of my inner world just as it was. The way we look can either be an outer expression of who we are on the inside, or a mask to hide behind. Either way, it doesn’t really matter... There’s so much more to us than the way we look.
Tomorrow is Day 6 of #ShapeShiftingYogis & our pose choice is between Peacock Pose, Eagle, or a mash up of the two... I just had to go with Peagle (that name still makes me chuckle). Ps there’s a new mini class on my Youtube channel focusing on hamstring flexibility - Use the link in my stories to check it out.

Shape Shifting Hosts:
“Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains,
at the huge waves of the sea,
at the long courses of the rivers,
at the vast compass of the ocean,
at the circular motions of the stars,
and they pass by themselves without wondering.” Saint Augustine 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Come bring your wonder and curiosity with you. Let’s see how vast we can make ourselves. Let’s take up more space.
Teaching at 430 @creative_yoga Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It’s pretty much my favorite time of day 🙃#lessssgo
I hate cancer🖕🏼I hate it so much that I’m teaching a $10 donation class at @soulyogastudio *1 month from today* on Sunday, January 13 at 2:30 benefiting @cancersocietygc!
As you may or may not know, my grandmother (pictured) passed from stage 4 lung and brain cancer a year and a half ago and my aunt is a breast cancer survivor. Huge s/o to Soul member, thoracic and cardiac surgeon AND breast cancer survivor, Sharon Ben-Or 🙌🏼
Your tax deductible $10 cash donation to attend this class will go towards resources like nutritional supplements, non-medical financial support, and support groups for patients and their caregivers in our immediate area.
We also have tanks and t-shirts for sale in the lobby and online for this event through Wednesday December 19 👉🏼 Sales will go directly to the Cancer Society of Greenville County. I’ll be making mine a crop top, duh 🙄
If you have been touched by cancer or know someone who has, please consider joining me in this yoga sequence that I wrote for my grandmother and help us help others in need.
There’s nothing wrong with being a little cheeky now and then🍑
I’m naturally sassy, but not naturally confident. Or maybe I was once upon a time, but I lost it somewhere along the way.
I work my ass off to feel good about myself; in my own skin, accepting my dreams and loving my talents. I’ve worked hard to love my body, both mentally and physically, because at one point those two had to meet half way.
I stopped taking care of my body, and myself all together really, a few years back. I stopped eating healthy, stopped working out, stopped stretching ... all the things that was once important to me and three key components to making me feel great. At the same time I lost my confidence, I got anxiety and my social-energetic-and-happy self faded.
Which of those two came first, the physical body or my mental state, I don’t know. Honestly, I think they spiraled down hand in hand.
One day I saw a photo of my myself. I was pale even though I lived near a beach in Australia, my face didn’t sparkle and my eyes didn’t smile. My body was weak, too thin but with fat in the “wrong places”, and shaped in a way I was not happy with. It was... sloppy and the complete opposite of perky. I was in my early twenties and utterly uncomfortable in my own skin.
In order to love my body again I not only had to change my mental patterns, but I also had to changed how I treated my body. Me. I had to change how I treated me. I began eating healthy again, started working out and started stretching and practicing yoga more frequently.
Today I’m here, feeling pretty badass about myself and loving where I’m headed.
It didn’t happen overnight, let me tell you! But it happened. Slowly, but surely, and I’m still going.
One day I’ll share the before photo, but not today. I’m not ready. But one day I will.
So here is a six-months-ago photo of me with a growing bum, a healing heart and a smile that’s finding its way back where it belongs: on my face!☀️
FINAL DAY of #12daysofyogis ! Thank you all for participating ✨ "Take everything I have and watch me go get it back with a smile." ✨~ 🌈 Weird fun pose! 🌈 heart openers are my love👽 —> swipe right for a progression of how I got into this! • I wanted to say thank you for the love and support on my last post I’m so grateful for all of you • 🔮
Today I am thankful for my growth. My ability to draw boundaries. To say no. To do what’s best for me. To replenish my own cup. To put myself first. To stop making excuses as to why I’m not good enough right now. I am thankful that I have the strength to do the right things even when they’re incredibly painful. I am thankful I respect myself enough to uphold myself to my standards and boundaries. I couldn’t always do this and it’s a work in progress but I’ve come leaps and bounds🙏🏼 Beautiful hosts:

"I don't know what I was doing here really, think it's looks like a onehanded upside-down tree pose! 😂😂 but I do manage to look like I was slaying it (I was holding on for dear life)
I'm glad to say no faces were smashed in the making of this photo.. 😊
Day9 #BeCreativeYogi is any legs up pose. .
Yoga mat drawing work in progress using the stencils that the DIYogi mat comes with - basically anyone can draw on it and make use of the stencils as they wish...or just leave the mat blank 😊
We believe that every line you draw by yourself on your yoga mat makes you more familiar with your practice space which then helps deepen your focus inwards when you do yoga 🧘♀️
What would you do? Draw on your mat or leave it blank? .
Talking to myself while preparing a Vinyasa flow is always a good idea! ;) Preparing behind the scenes - well, here is a little 'peek' - for a new workshop coming up in February 2019 about The Art of Vinyasa. Stay tuned! Goodmorning you lovely you!
Enjoy your day day. Namasté, ♡
❄️☃️#WinterOpenHips ~ Dec 10-19☃️❄️
Day 2: #lizardpose or #utthanpristhasana ❄️🤩🎄❄️ When you start to practicing Yoga one of the first things you realize is that you have to work on your hips in order to opening them. With time you realize that this process of creating new space opening areas of your body is reflected on your mind to.
