Work in progress: the one who got away!⠀
A wonderful new client of mine Integrative Mediation Australia have just signed off on their new brand identity. And this wasn't it!⠀
Client Sarah loved the colours and the back of the business cards, but in the end another concept that resonated more won the day.⠀
What's Integrative Mediation you ask? It's a dynamic new concept that has the potential to change the experience of separation and divorce in a truly life-changing way. Sarah, a family law mediator, has teamed up with two counsellors with deep experience working with individuals who have experienced separation. As a team they offer a holistic process that counsels and coaches each individual through every step of the mediation process. It provides a real pathway towards acceptance and healing, and a much better foundation that families will have as they adjust to their new situations. So many families will benefit from this approach, and it's a privilege to be part of their communications strategy process. #watchthisspace
Hi there! If we haven’t met, my name is Jenna Cherry. 🍒
I started Twenty Seven when I was 18, and at the last stretch of horrible mental health struggles. I have PMDD (pre menstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and I was diagnosed the summer before moving out to college. So my freshman year was full of trying to figure out how to manage and heal this cyclical depression.
The direct result of the depression was the start of my business. I wanted to have something to do where I didn’t have to think about myself. So I dove into art. I sold yarn wall hangings, started making prints of Wes Anderson characters, and amazingly, Lakeland supported me.
It’s still wild to me. That this could ever even have taken off. Every step I’ve taken filled with doubt has been met with support exceeding my expectations. A good indicator I’m doing what I should.
Now I work with small businesses and design custom things and it lights up my heart. I LOVE designing. And I smooshed my love for small business and retro antiques into the brand and have a little store front place to shop set up.
This is my dream. It is my baby. And I am thrilled and honored every day to receive kind words and meet new clients.
Instafam, you are a sunshine spot in my day! Thanks for getting to know me!
How many priorities can you have before they stop becoming priorities, and start being things on your to-do list? Two? Three? Four?⠀ ⠀
I suspect the answer is different for all of us... Personally, I work SO much better when I can get hyper-focused on one or two things.⠀ ⠀
This seemed too simple and counterintuitive for a while, but once I started letting myself work in this way I've been able to take bigger action every day, week & month. ⠀ ⠀
How do you stay on top of your priorities?👇

As some of you know, it's looking like I'll be moving back to Aus next year... and although it's taken me 6 months to come to terms with it 🙈 I've decided I want to spent the next few months with my peeps in London being as creative as possible, organising songwriting sessions as much as possible and just committing to creativity for the sake of growth as a writer and to ENJOY IT...industry aside. .
So, @leannesedin and I got together last night and starting improvising vocals lines with no backings and we're on our way to finishing a song together 😻. This is a little snippet of us coming up with some funky harmonies and improvising a bit at the end. We'll let you know when it's finished 👌
On a side note I've started a little private group on Facebook for creative friends who might want on on these little get together songwriting sessions. Let me know if you want to join the group 😘.

The biggest learning curve for me as an abstract artist is of getting loose and not overworking things. It's interesting how much this changes the feel of a painting. Two lines may technically look the same but the one made unselfconsciously, without hesitation and with absolute trust in the process can magnetise a viewer far more than one made in apprehension after over-thinking it. A lot of my painting consists of being really free and making a flurry of marks, staring at it for 10 minutes, then allowing that gut feeling arise again, then making another flurry of marks. There is minimal technical analysis during painting - I do that after the painting is complete to move forward into my next painting. After about 2 hours of being in this zone of observation and mark-making I need to do something else physical outside, or at least change paintings. If I keep pushing myself after the "zone" period is finished (trying to prolong the high!) the painting becomes overworked like this one. It's been over two months since I've worked on this one from the point your see here. I know that someday something will click and we'll resolve our relationship! ⠀

If there's one thing we've learnt, it's to appreciate the process.
Everyone, even us, has been in a hurry to get to a certain place in their business. The thing is, the goal posts will always keep moving as you hit goals so it's important to stop and assess how far you've truly come. 😌⠀
Once we stopped saying 'we need to be here' and started saying 'look what we've done' it truly changed our outlook. It's easy to get bogged down in the day to day and become consumed in this biz owner life, but never forget to come up for air and give yourself credit where credit is due. ✊🏼⠀
Because owning a business is bloody hard work, whilst we see others kicking big goals, we can sometimes forget that our goals are just that, OUR goals. Chin up, let's do this together! 👏
My body is my instrument
My mind is my instrument
My soul is my instrument
My heart. Is my instrument.
Fine tuning and perfecting
A never ending exposition
It’ll never be perfected
That’s where the beauty lies
That’s where magic complies
That’s where friction and harmony make musical tides.
I tune into the dance
I listen to the song
Listening for the moment where
I take the lead
Follow the lead
Sow the seeds
Sit and breathe.
Each note incomparable to the last tune
Every song I start anew.
Your validation is not my instrument
Your criticism is not my instrument
A radio signal signaling my bridge of connection.
There’s even friction and harmony in approval and disapproval
In the love and the hate
In the understanding in the misunderstanding.
Would be the death of my instrument
My notes flat and cold
My brass stale and old.
Each time I put down my instrument
There’s a death that breeds a new life
Resting restlessly in the mystery of the night.
My dreams fearlessly play
Bouncing around every which way
Revealing the new born child born the next day. #dplwrites#writing#poems#actorlife#actor#photography#creativelife#creativewriting#inspo#motivation#dance#artisticlife#poemsofig
I’m not much of a cake person, but I could eat ice cream everyday, for every meal. SO, we decided to have an ice cream cake for our wedding. Many folks laughed, and doubted that it could be done. But, we kept our sights on our goal, and ended up getting our ice cream cake from....(drum roll please)....@magic_fountain!
We still have dreams about our cake. People still talk about our cake. It was heaven in a square.
Thank you, Magic Fountain! We love you forever. 🍦photo by @davidperlmanphotography
