There are a lot of songs that remind me of my true love @mogies11 💞But when I heard this song yesterday, it instantly put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. I don’t think people know how much Morgan has brought out the real me, the best of me. I am forever grateful for his love, friendship, understanding, and kindness since meeting him. Thank you @dierksbentley for making such a wonderful song🎶 “I was a stranger to myself, Before you came along
Who I was back then is like an old forgotten song, You showed me who I am, You handed me the keys. And I unlocked the door to the better part of me, Without your love I'd still be Someone else, A stranger to myself.” #dierksbentley#lyrics#love#appreciation#countrygirl#truelove#countrysinger#countrymusic
The Albums That Made Me Who I Am: Volume 1, White Limozeen by Dolly Parton
This is the first favorite album of mine that I can remember. I believe my mom bought it on vinyl when it came out and I played it so much I was given my own copy on cassette tape as a gift. My favorite track was White Limozeen but I recall replaying Time For Me To Fly, Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That, Back To the Country and He's Alive a lot as well. I spent a troubling amount of time playing the album and putting on tiny concerts with my toys. I also had a Dolly Parton Best Of tape but this was by far my most played album of hers.
Listening to the album as an adult for the first time is an odd experience. I mostly moved on from country music around 3rd or 4th grade and haven't listened to this album specifically since before that. Naturally my musical pallet has evolved greatly in the 20+ years since then, but despite that, I can't deny I still dig this album. Nostalgia is certainly a factor I can't completely eliminate but some of these tracks are just plain enjoyable regardless.
Dolly's voice is unique in any genre and has a weird sort of inherent emotional and fun quality to it. I just learned today that Time For Me To Fly is a cover of an Reo Speedwagon song and so I checked out the original. Personally I still prefer the cover. Dolly adds an energy to her more simplified version that gives it the country equivalent of a punk cover. Despite being an atheist, I can't deny that He's Alive is an amazing song. The whole arrangement is excellent and Dolly shows she's equally capable of pulling off more than just bubbly, fun vocalizations like she's known for.

🌄🌾"I often think about that summer. The sweat, the moonlight and the lace. And I have rarely held another, when I haven't seen her face. And everytime I pass a wheat field and watch it dancing with the wind. Although it isn't real I swear inside I feel her hungry arms again."
