Did you know I have a YouTube channel? Because... I do. And I just posted two videos to it over the course of this last week. I have a video of my shieldmaiden Brigitte costume, and I have a video of my BlizzCon vlogging experience.
I have a set of three of these photos by @gregdestefano ...Also apologies in advance... I'm going to post 3 of these photos individually (whoops sorry Greg).
Eevee! Is there more to say? I cannot express how happy I am with this costume and how it turned out! A huge thank you to @littlepaperforest for allowing cosplayers to use her gorgeous art, and to @girlwiththetardistattoo for bringing me into the group for the whole array of Eeveelutions! And lastly to @pointblankshot_photography for always managing to make me look good! 📸: @pointblankshot_photography
Just a reminder, commissions ARE OPEN for 2019 cons now!
Guys! I really cannot tell you how much fun I had as Bloody Claire Bennet for Friday night at LA Comic Con last month. I was hardly in this costume for anytime on the floor and got LITERALLY NO Claire photos taken but it was still the most fun I had getting ready or wearing a costume all weekend. Part of that is surely because she was new but s major factor for me was that I got to be messy and crazy and disheveled (ie, my natural state) in a cosplay—something I’ve never really done before. (I was even far too cautious with HalloweenBuffy and she’s supposed to get trashed lol). I cannot wait to wear Claire again and actually shoot some pictures. I just need to order a new patch and make a second/ non bloody shirt so I can do a full photo shoot for her! Can’t wait!

Oh gods, I just stopped studying before I should've stopped and ever since I've had kinda painful hickups... I didn't know I believe in Karma... Oh well.
So these are two more photos made by @merelbehindthecamera and that dude in the second photo is @larpvision
Also, I've found that the best way to make a collar is by cutting some paper and eyeballing it on a mannequin, cuz tbh, I'm quite proud of this collar.
Scroll, seriously, it's worth it IMO.
This was the start of maybe a possible Tauriel cosplay, but, well, that didn't happen...
Anyhow, we shot this as kind of a practice shoot with @merel_pince on one of @larpvision 's sword fight trainings (if you can get to Ghent on Saturdays, he gives about 1 training a month, hit 'em up if you're interested and you might be able to actually hit him)
Also, to the gamers here: I recently installed Destiny II and I like it a lot, buttt how on Earth do you do things in your life??? cuz all I wanna do all day is go home and game, with some hot chocolate on the side.
Can’t say that I remember my motivation for that face? Lol. I think I was moving into a more excited “oooh mangoes!” moment from the episode. Either way; thank you SO MUCH to @howl_of_dawn for one of the few full length photos I actually have of this costume!
Kaylee Frye costume and cosplay by: me, @notahepburn 📸: @howl_of_dawn
From last weekend at @comicconla
I can’t believe it’s been a week since @comicconla! A lot of these images can be found back in my feed, but I know that I have gained some lovely new followers since my #nationalcosplaychampionship experience and I wanted to showcase some of the work that I put in to get the second place medal in the Journeyman Individual category. I cannot express how honored I am to have placed among such strong competition. Thank you so much for @misschrissylyn and @jmillsmakeupandhair for helping us stay organized and running smoothly back stage! It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to come back next year!
Pic 1 shows the first time I displayed the Kaylee dress, at my panel at @whedoncon.
Pic 2 is the start of my journey to customize me bodice fabric.
Pic 3 was the painstaking pleating process for the front panel.
Pic 4 features the constructed bodice.
Pic 5 is the beginning of the skirt adventures. Meters and meters and meters of hemmed organza strips ready for a dye bath or two.
Vid (6) is of the dye process as I hand dyed the organza for the two different pinks on the skirt.
Pic 7 is a detail pic featuring the shoes I chose, the dyed organza and my wig (a buttercup from @ardawigs in light brown). Pic 8 is a sleeve close up featuring a rolled hem, hand dyed and knitted chainette trim and hand made tassels.
Pic 9 is a closeup of the bodice, hand made and dyed gloves and even my last minute addition of a pink and sparkly painted purse.
And lastly, and this one is a detail I forgot to even mention in prejudging with @designerdaddy_, @pixelartsprops, @jacquelinegoehner and @amberbriteprops. This cute little flamingo is a nod to the amazing costume designer @trpcic who originally brought #shindigkaylee to life.
Thank to to everyone that cheered me on over the weekend and for all the pictures I’ve seen come out of it so far! I love being this shiny mechanic!
I know Halloween has come and gone, but I’m just going to go ahead and dress up like Dolores Abernathy every day for the rest of the year. Cool? Cool. 🌵
Also, if my husband isn’t the most handsome gosh darn cowboy I’ve ever seen, I don’t know who is. 🌵

💀 Death eater Cosplay 💀
Facts - March 2015 - Gent
Throwback to a time where I did not know how to sow, But still managed to whip up an original Cosplay. I Found this second hand dress and decided tot turn it into a Death eater. I wanted to make something original but I used pictures from the "Harry Potter Page to screen" book as inspiration. I made a simple draped long skirt tot put over te dress tot create more layers and texture, and Then I looked up a YouTube tutorial on how to make a cape with a big Hood, and used my grandmotherd sowing machine (and instructions) to make it.
Not my best costume, but I liked my way of thinking back then. Simple problem solving. 👌
This was my SO & I’s fourth Halloween together. We usually prep our costumes in advance and have an idea what we are going to do! This year we headed with nothing planned. Will encouraged me not to stress myself out & try to make something elaborate the day of, so I said let’s go with aliens. I found this awesome dress with eyes @buffaloexchange weeks ago, so we went with that as a base and we thrifted at @savers_thrift to get everything else & @spirithalloween for face makeup last night. Then, my idea came to life when it popped in my head, let’s make signs and we can be protesting aliens! So I made the signs with cardboard we already had and @henryjd suggested the #abolishthespaceforce hashtag 😂 This really made me happy for being a random idea because I always feel like I have to outdo myself plus it was under $45 for all our clothing and accessories which is amazing for a couples costume! I won’t let this last minute hunting happen again though and I have a private @pinterest board of all my ideas for years to come! Does anyone else get sad the day after Halloween though?
A little note about Halloween:
I thought I was off the hook for handmade Halloween costumes this year...until last week of course when Bella decided this was the year to be Jack and Sally. Costumes are so much fun when you have a great idea and I am always up for a challenge;) In the last two days I got to get elbow deep doing all the crafty things; wonky piecing, fabric dyeing, pinstriping pants with duct tape, making a bat bowtie out of pipe cleaners and fabric, coloring fabric with markers, played with utility knives, and even got down to painting faces with the cheapest Makeup available. Needless to say, happy I got a photo😉🎃💀@all_the_fault
I’m a mouse, duh!!
Can’t let Halloween or #womencrushwednesday pass without sharing my Mean Girls!
