It's always good to warm up through the spine gradually so in the first round of Sun Salutations just use the strength of your chest to lift you up off the floor.
When you start to feel a bit warmer use more strength in your hands, moving into Cobra (Bhujangasana). Listen to your body to potentially work into the different asana of Upward Dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanansana).

💚This yoga life. So much so I couldn’t imagine my life Not doing yoga.
When I first tried yoga I assumed it wasn’t for me. I already had this preconceived notion in my mind that I’m not a yoga person, it’s too slow, I wanted to be moving doing impact/fast workouts. I didn’t understand yoga & dismissed it. 
I didn’t get why ‘Yoga people’ seemed to be hooked on it almost like a yoga club, a cult even! 
I didn’t take to it initially. 
I now know it’s because I wasn’t patient enough. I wasn’t open to the prospect of enjoying or benefitting from yoga. 
It took me several attempts at different classes, styles & teachers until I just got it. 
I got Yoga. 
I got it So much I had to learn, teach & share this yoga discovery💚with clients & particularly anyone who is like I was. 
I wanted to convince people to be open to try it; as like me they just might 💚it.
My 🌎wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t practise Yoga. 
There’s So much more for us as students & teachers to learn in this transformational worldwide practise physically And mentally. 
So I guess I’m now one of ‘those’ yoga people, I’m part of the yoga club!..it’s kinda like a secret as unless you’ve tried & found a Yoga style or class you💚you won’t get it.

So you probably think it's definitely a beginners pose and super easy to do but it's really not. I still look at this photo and see things that could have more space inside them and I've been practicing for 6 years now.

Find patience in your practice. Don't look at a photo and think that is the perfect version, I know I'm guilty of that. Try not to do the same thing in class also. So long as you're feeling the feels then it's all good.

Many individuals regularly pull their knee across their chest to “release” their back In a supine position and also try to passively pull themselves into rotation using their arms when seated. Each of these variations do nothing to strengthen muscles that actually perform the rotation

Benefits: also known as a low plank pose, many muscle groups are engaged including: arms (biceps & triceps), shoulders, core, legs & the spines erector muscles. This also means that this pose is HARD!! And why most people can’t achieve the full pose or do it incorrectly.  In order to do the full version of the pose, you must have sufficient arm, shoulder, and abdominal strength. These parts work together in a complicated way to create the perfect alignment. If strength needs to be gained, modify by dropping the knees to the floor first below lowering down. And actually, even if you are able to do the full pose, doing this variation helps you learn proper alignment because you’re still working all the same muscles above the waist, without having to concentrate on carrying all the extra weight of your lower body. So better to drop than slop!! .

This pose helps to body to prepare for arm balances and inversions. And a bit like a traditional push up, it strengthens the muscles around the spine & improves posture.

This is me muckin about practicing a pose which for some reason i'd completely forgotten existed. 
To get in to this pose; first move through trikonasana triangle pose and then walk your bottom hand out two hand spaces slightly behind the front foot... Step your back foot in half way. 
Bend the front knee, and flex the back foot to begin lifting the back leg. 
To lift the leg; engage your glute medius and minimus (the side of your hip... Your hip abductors)  and feel as though you're lifting from the inner thigh. 
To stop from falling; look forward or up, not at your bottom hand. Keep the chest and the flexed toes pointing forward.  Keep the lifted heel kicking away. 
Pray to one of your gods. 
Swipe to see me falling in and out of this, using a block and of course... Jaz hands! Xxx

Here is a short morning yoga sequence to help you warm up your back, spine, core, and get your digestive fire going. .
Make sure to do both sides and repeat the entire sequence 3x.
This video is sped up x 2 so definitely slow down your practice and focus your mind on what muscles you are engaging. The pushups are are optional depending on your upper body & arm strength. They are very effective for TONING the TUMMY & sending heat throughout the body. .

Lets be really real here kittens. 
Today i did NOT feel up to it. 
So grumpy. So down. So S.A.D. So not my usual chirpy self. 
Recently the rain and darkness and waking up in the dark has taken it's toll on me. 
But after a 75min flow class i feel much better. 
Maybe it was the plank poses or maybe it was my awesome students... (fuck i love them sooooooo much!) either way... #yogaworks.
