Have you ever tried the deadbug? If the answer is no, then here is a variation you can add to your next session. The REACHING DEADBUG will work your anterior core muscles (aka ABS!), improve hip flexion and ankle dorsiflexion, open the upper back muscles by reaching long, and reinforce good positioning of the neck. Try it out: -hold a light weight over your chest with knees bent and feet in the air
-if your low back is not flat to the floor, elevate your head
-make the back of the neck long and reach the weight away from you
-keeping the toes pulled to the shins, kick a leg out while exhaling fully
-only kick as far as you can without losing the low back off the floor
-perform 10 reps per side; reach weight overhead if the set is easy

I have seen a gymnastics do something similar to this . I was like how can I replicate it . We have these slider boards in the gym . A little DIY and I almost have something close . I came up with a few movements . I have so much more but I got told to take the board down. What a party pooper . I will have more movements on this soon . This can probably be done with just your sock and the wall . The gliding board makes it more easier for movements . Don鈥檛 get it twisted . Great post by @doctor.kurt and an underutilized exercise among trainees and patients with low back pain. This shows a progression of the exercise as you strengthen your core.

SIDE PLANKS FOR LOWBACK PAIN

Here鈥檚 a simple progression for an underutilized exercise, the Side Plank. We continually correlate a strong 鈥渃ore鈥 as having 6-pack abs, and that isn鈥檛 always the case.

There are other abdominal muscles that run around the sides and to the back that heavily influence low back and hip mechanics.

The Side Plank targets the oblique muscles. Important in overall 鈥渃ore鈥 strength, maintains pelvic and lowback position and creating/resisting rotation about the spine.

Each progression builds on the previous one, in terms of difficulty. So start with the first one and find the progression that best fits your current level.

When it comes to planks we often think about holding for a long duration of time. I personally, don鈥檛 always find this necessary. If you鈥檙e having to keep your balance from body shaking during the exercise it鈥檚 probably a good time to stop, rest and then repeat.

The exercise is called like that, as the leg that rests in the TRX suspension trainer, acts like the skewer that the chicken would rotate over the fire in a normal Rotisserie. It targets the hips, which are a common weak spot of many people, leading to back pain and inefficient running/walking gait.
