This hallway is the source of chaos and fun in our home. It's where the boys run out their energy. It's the perfect distance to work up some steam for a proper "knock down hug". It's the pathway from the toys/tv to the food. And it's right off the bathroom where bedtime routines take place with daddy (because mommy is spent by that point of the day). It's been the canvas for sharpie artwork (whoops), and probably will need to be sanded down and refinished by the time our boys are through. Its walls are littered with fingerprints and it's left its share of bruises on little boys' foreheads when they've gotten a little too wild. It's the main artery of our home.
Introducing the Leroux Ladies! Danielle, on the right, has been living in Vancouver for quite a few years now. Her younger sister, Madie, just moved out to Vancouver this year for school. So of course, that meant Mama Leroux had to get on a plane to come and visit her girls!
This blanket looks pretty decent here but I’m not sure how because it’s RAGS. This kid is literally going to love it to death. He’s my angry, feisty, bite you and laugh in your face kid. However, he will also love on you so hard it hurts - literally cause I’m not 100% sure he knows how to kiss without simultaneously head butting. He will tuck his baby brother in if he sees that he is in need of a blanket - aka smother him in love. Again literally. He’s wild in all his emotions. He’s our Levi.
We spend a lot of time on this couch. Especially the last few months with me being so pregnant, recovering from birth, and now in the throes of having a newborn. It might seem ordinary and boring, but I think it’s worth documenting and remembering. It’s a season, and like all the rest, it will pass quickly and soon just become a memory.
Every year we take our city boys out to a farm and pick up a 1/4 cow for our freezer. The couple that owns the farm is wonderful and lets them feed the animals, go for tractor rides, and often sends us home with extras from their garden. Levi is standing in the middle of their garden here proudly holding two fistfuls of mud which he first offered to their dog (who declined) and then sampled himself. After a grimaced face and much tongue wiping he got most of it back out of his mouth and went on his way. Clearly he didn’t mind it quite as much as the tractor grease he dipped his finger in and sampled 5 minutes prior. That elicited a tiny “oh no!” from him as soon as he put it in his mouth.
You are one full month old. Some nights you go 3 hours between wake ups. Occasionally you even give us 4-5 hours in between. And then other nights you’re up every hour. It’s fairly unpredictable between your spitting up and your absolute hatred for an even mildly wet diaper. Your eating habits have very little to do with when you wake ironically.
Your colic and gas have been much better since I’ve been off dairy for a few weeks, however, so that’s something. You love to sleep and never had your days and nights reversed which was nice. You wake up around 6:45am but can be convinced to go back to sleep until closer to 9 if you come into our bed. You like to stay awake for a couple of hours in the morning and for a couple of hours before bed but that’s about it. You nap super well on your tummy or in my arms. The swing is hit or miss.
You surprised us by smiling in response to our voices from as early as two weeks old though you never let me catch it on camera. You’re up to 13lbs now and have grown out of almost all your 0-3 month clothing. Your hair is also still long, full, and amazing.
Micah is mostly over declaring to the world that, “baby out!” and mostly ignores you unless you cry. Then he feels the need to inform me, “mommy, baby!” Levi ignored you at first but now stops occasionally to kiss you and tuck you in with any blanket on hand. You are loved greatly our little Moose.
From one photographer mom to another, I know how rare it is for us to actually be in front of the camera, instead of behind it. I loved capturing these sweet moments between Stacy (@thegrovephotography) and her daughter, Amelia. That mother daughter time is so precious!
I have an SD card full of images from the last couple of weeks that is waiting for me to edit but sleep keeps winning over as the priority in all my free time. So here’s a favourite from earlier in the month ❤️
