A few tips to take your chili to the next level: 1. Deglaze pan with a light beer after browning meat. 2. Brown meat and onions separately. Together equals steaming, not browning. 3. Fry up a few strips of bacon before you start cooking. Use the bacon fat for browning onions and meat. Then add the crumbled bacon (if there’s any left) to chili when it’s almost finished cooking. 4. Pull back on the standard chili powder and introduce alternative heat sources. Diced jalapeño adds a nice freshness. 5. Add a splash of acid at the end of cooking to brighten up the flavours. I love when I come home to this! Having a child who I've had to make everything that goes into his mouth for the past 6 years, has turned my passion for cooking into a chore...so I love when someone gives me a break and cooks for me. ❤️ Love that he's wearing the apron I gave him many years ago as a joke. Cooking for sex is never necessary, but it certainly helps 😉 And we haven't made loaded nachos in at least 9 years - So yummy! I love a man who can cook and who surprises me.
It's no secret that these boys love to go out to eat (maybe because I'm not a very good cook or maybe because they don't prefer mom's "healthy" foods), but they DO know their way around the kitchen <3
I was a day early as they cooked for me last night, (spaghetti and Itallian Sausage - I did have to make my own zuchinni, but for the most part, it was all them :-) ), but today is National Kids Take Over the Kitchen day!!
