My first experiment with colored slip! A kind Work Exchange left me her slip when she left to do her MFA, and I love how this little blue grey guy came out. I have a bunch of mason stain ready to make my own, but I’ve been nervous to take the project on. I’m going to push myself to do it this weekend. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for future pink bud vases!
When New Orleans-area artist and craftsman David Bergeron (@bergeronwoodworks) sets out to create a frame, piece of furniture or other work, it’s not just the finished product that’s meaningful to him, but also the origin of its materials. All of Bergeron’s pieces are constructed with locally salvaged lumber— literal pieces of the rich legacy of southeastern Louisiana. So it’s no surprise that Bergeron’s own roots have had such a vital impact on his craft. #clementinewishlist
This was me making a special order by myself for the first time. My boss was out of the country and left me in charge of everything. Little did I know this would make me stronger as I took the challenge and succeded. This was me taking a picture for my boss of the process. (She was very courageous for letting me do this without her being by my side 😄)
Windows onto Making ends 3rd November. Thanks for the post CAA Gallery. Repost @caagallery with @get_repost
ON NOW AT CAA: Windows onto Making part 2
11.10.18 - 03.11.18⠀
Featuring work by many of our maker members, Windows onto Making is a dynamic and multi-disciplinary display focusing on extremes of process and illustrating the myriad of ways in which a single material can be treated to achieve completely different outcomes. CAA kicks off the celebrations for its 70th anniversary year with this dazzling display of fine craft. The showcase will feature work by many of the gallery’s maker members who hail from around the globe but are all based in the UK and masterfully craft unique contemporary objects in ceramics, glass, furniture, jewellery, metal, paper, textiles and wood.⠀
Shown here - textiles - featuring Zoe Hillyard (@ceramicpatchwork, top left), Nao Fukumoto (@nao.komo_, top middle and top right), Majeda Clarke (@majeda_clarke, bottom right)
When your small business holiday prep spills out of your studio and into the living room.. thank you to my wonderful hubby for helping me create some snazzy new tags for this years work @drew6087 .
Llammas and doves, coming to Etsy soon!
Backstage moments from the makers! We love what we do and this is how it reflects to all of our making process as well. Don’t want to be emotional but “being a namesake” with each other might be the first sign to come up as @thecquared for all these beauties. Hope you enjoy & happy friday you all! Cheers, @cansuzy + @cansusakiz 🥂
Confession. These tea towels were brought to you with a backdrop of rather a lot of London Grammar and Florence and the Machine. Could be time to lighten up! What tunes are you guys listening to? You could do me a big favour here, or for my 14 year old daughter actually. These are her words “Mum, you have GOT to stop singing out loud when you have your headphones on. The neighbours can hear you. It is so embarrassing. You sound like you are getting Murdered. SLOWLY.” 😬 Righto, anyhoooo! Loving this colour combo, special order for a special shop. More soon. X
➕ ‘Sea Her Land’ exhibition at @craftvictoria and curated by Lisa Waup - if you like baskets and vessels, check this out. I was blown away by the collection. I’ve put some shaky video on stories for those who aren’t in Melbourne. I’ll hopefully write something up properly for our journal when I have a moment.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along to last nights Talking Heads - for your kind words, inspiring talks, and (especially) for laughing at my bad jokes. Without you, I’d just be a women cackling about lasagne on her own. And of course a big thanks to @creativeedinburgh for inviting me to speak! It was lovely to meet so many creative faces and hear so many inspiring people talk about their loves and lives.
