24 September 2018
I have been absent for a while, about eight days from my log. It has been hard, but it will only make me harder. I did not get the (job i applied for) and I am realizing the complexities of my predictiment, being a fulltine student with actual experience.
I am told in every interview or reply that I am over-qualified for the position, and in place i am offered a more demanding full time position unrelated, but i cannot except such offers because education and school must be my priority.
Fortunately there is a career fair this week, and i must go, that might be my last chance at being able to work a regular job to pay off my debts and break away from the terrible food and customer service industry.
The pressue is building and I am realizing thoughts and visions of changing my current battle plans, dropping "The Move West" by just paying my debts off here, starting my creative endevours and then pushing straight to Germany. ----
However the internal thought war wages, is this a more stragetic genuis being refined in the fires of conflict and struggle, or is it my willful plan giving out to stress cracks under such high tempitures and pressure. More thought is required, but at least, I am firing at full blast. I will melt, or be made stronger.
Harley Weir's project Homes looks at the private spaces created in Calais' refugee camp. The project offers a view into the dignity and resourcefulness of displaced people in the Jungle before it was flattened in 2016.
Homes will be on show at Fabrica Gallery @fabricagallery in Brighton from 28th September, opening this weekend.
Weir's book is available for preorder, with proceeds donated to charitable organisations.
Homes is featured in Contra issue 01 - Displacement, which is still on sale on our website and in bookshops.

How we relate to anger is HUGE! This morning someone got really pissed at me. I could have done one of two things: 1) blamed them; or, 2) blamed me. I didn’t do either. That impulse was there and I had to work very hard not to succumb to it. Instead, I received the person’s experience and I held my own at the same time. What happened as a result? The anger subsided and a conversation ensued. I got to see my part and hear what they had to say. And the experience I had as a result is giving me everything I need right now and it’s really showing me how much I’ve matured and evolved. I grew up believing that conflict is something to avoid and that anger is bad. But I’ve now learned that conflict and conflict resolution are actually the building blocks of any powerful and successful relationship. And that anger is just an emotion. And it’s a powerful emotion at that. Anger forms a boundary. So this morning someone held a boundary that helped me and I didn’t even know I needed it. And it made me realize how much that person cared about me and was affected by me. My actions had caused a reaction in them. If I had attacked or internalized that anger and gotten high on blame I would have missed the opportunity to heighten my connection with that person. Anger is fiery. It needs to burn! #mondaymusings#anger#emotion#conflict#conflictresolution#emotions#yogateacher#yogajourney#yogaadventures#communication#partnership#care#yogaeverywhere#yogainspiration

Thank you to everyone who made Pressure Points 2018 another successful opportunity for Christian leaders to network and learn expert strategies to harness conflict and make it productive, learn how to challenge culture, utilize constructive feedback, embrace discomfort and learn how to be more effective by doing DIFFERENT instead of doing MORE in the workplace. #leadershipskills#conflict resolution #bizlife#christianleaders#mequon @cuwisconsin
I got fired! And I loved it. 💖
Wait... What? No, you didn't misread me and no I'm not going crazy, all is fine. Let me explain. 🤗
11 years ago I started working in Human Resources. I didn't know much but I knew I loved people and that I wanted to work with and for people. 🌸
I loved studying organisational and social psychology & sociology and I was really excited to start in the field. I felt #happy to have an opportunity to make people’s working lives better, even in a small way.
I really learned a lot but it all came down to this: #business and work is all about #people . Companies have very little true value outside of their people. 💖
Everyday #hrprofessionals are given a chance to create #meaningful and lasting #relationships , learn new things, live our #passions and solve complex problems that can impact the lives of people.
I was intriged by True employer branding where a company has an identity that's true, credible, relevant, distinctive and aspirational.
But there was an everlasting #conflict , a gaping hole in my heart 💔. At first I couldn't figure out what it was but as time passed on I got the enlightenment 🌠. I was in constant utterly #believe that you had to practice what you preach, leading by example, walking your talk.
And lately I couldn't find an employer in HR that lived up to this #expectation . The core of the company, the True base was commercial. It wasn't about people, it was about the numbers and profit margins. Nobody was to blame, it was all on me. It's not about guilty or #good and #wrong .
The day I got fired was the day I saw the Light ☀️and I just had to admit to myself that this was not going to be the #environment for me to really #thrive , to be the best of me, to be fully committed and intrinsic motivated to make a real difference.
Ofcours I was hurting, change always hurts. But you know what? Sometimes things have to fall apart, so better things can fall togheter. 💖🌈 Any thoughts in this? Where you ever in this situation? What was your moment of 'enlightenment'?

A drawing by a Ukrainian child featuring tanks and the words, ‘This is Russian people’ and ‘This is Ukraine people’ written in English next to smiling faces - found in a war-damaged deserted building in Luhansk, eastern Ukraine.
For the next month I will be working in Ukraine in the hope of bringing some attention back to this forgotten war, which has dropped from the headlines.
The conflict has claimed more than 10,000 lives, almost one-third of them civilians, and displaced close to two million, making it the bloodiest in Europe since the Balkans war of the 1990s.

1968 was one of the most turbulent years of the 20th century. 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of that year’s landmark political, social and cultural events —events that continue to influence our world today. Are you interested in politics, student riots, racism, redlining, civil rights, wild and scenic rivers designations, Laugh-in and popular culture, or advancements in the space program? Have you considered spatial relationships among factors that diminish social equality, environmental safety, and ultimately, quality of life? If you are, please come join us in mapping 1968! We will have a workshop: Mapping 1968, Conflict and Change at Wilson Collaborative Research Studio in UMN Wilson Library. The workshop will be starting at 9:00am on September 28. 📰📍📝🖊
I love the term #flooding because it speaks so clearly to me of the feeling it is intended to describe.
It's totally okay to ask for a "peace pause" during a #conflict and let your #partner know you're "feeling flooded" and will come back to the topic after getting yourself back to feeling #grounded + #balanced + #thinking more clearly. •
Thanks for sharing this @gottmaninstitute !! 👍
Happy Birthday to Me!
Thanks for the happy #birthday wishes, the gifts, dinners and #love . It was another good birthday and year. Also, a special #thanks to the #fullmoon Full Moon for not causing the usual #conflict on my day. Conflict surely came, but it's effect on me dwindled so much I hardly noticed til the day was nearly over.
Shreen (name changed) was 18 years old when she ran away from a private house in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district. After facing physical abuse from her teachers she retaliated and slapped one of her teachers who used to beat her for no reason.
Many children like her are forced to study and live in these private homes which lack even basic facilities.
Justice Hasnain Masoodi and a handful of others are at the forefront of a battle to rescue children from private homes spread across the state. These homes are run illegally, and cases of abuse have emerged periodically. Most of them, state authorities say, are not registered under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme and routinely flout the Jammu & Kashmir Juvenile Justice Act.

We have indication with this card it's going to be one of those days. Because this card talks about having conflict with others, try your best to avoid petty drama. Choose your words wisely and make sure you think before you speak. Dealing with people in general, you don't want to say something that will come back to bite you in the bum later down the line. I wouldn't be surprised if you felt that you were walking on eggshells all day around the office or interacting with some very chippy clients. Carry a protective crystal to help you ward off lower energies if you have them available to you. ******************************************************************************************************************pic- Adobe Photoshop Express

Gold is unlikely to move too far prior to the two day Federal Reserve meeting due to finish on Wednesday. The commodity is lacking any real external drivers to expect a big move either way. For this reason we wait, wait to watch the market print a true directional bias before jumping into a trade! It is widely expected that interest rates will be increased by the U.S Central Bank, attracting foreign investment and boosting the value of the Dollar. With this we can expect the demand for commodities like Gold to decrease in turn pushing its price even lower!
