Baby watermelon, pumpkin, and beans growing in the garden!
The Bay Community Garden is a member’s run garden where labour and produce is shared between our hard working volunteers. One of the coolest things I learned this year was to organically grow vegetables and cook at home. — In this picture, I have: homemade sourdough, jam and hot sauce with self grown berries, herbs and peppers.
There is nothing like participating in every step of a food production chain. From cultivating to harvesting. From cooking to eating. It's such a good feeling! I learned to appreciate food way more than before. Every bite is so special.
Last week to grab your local organic salad and veggies for Christmas! Here as normal til Thursday (but not Friday), or catch us at @glfarmersmarket on Sunday morning. Also open 8.30am - 4.30pm on the days listed for you to stock up after Christmas. Endless courgettes, beans, plums, cucumbers to buy, plus some beetroot, carrots, bananas, and all the usuals.
Edition 6 of our Mates4Mates Magazine is now available online. In our latest edition we meet one of our Mate's Brennan Smith and take a look at the first installment of the community garden at our Brisbane Family Recovery Centre. There’s also plenty of Christmas ideas, including how to reduce stress this festive season, cut costs and end the year on a healthy note. Link in bio.
If feels like yesterday the garden was full of greenery, beaming with movement: human and the like. Now everything sleeps, and it’s not such a good sight. Just remember this is a time for planning, and that will help shine a light! #urbanfarm#montclair#growingorganic#communitygarden#2018

Spotted at the garden!! sunflower seedlings have had a bit of a ~growth spurt~ after the stormy weekend! Have you planted any seeds recently? Planting seeds is perhaps one of the most satisfying gardening activities - to see little seedlings sprout and blossom is so rewarding!😊🌱🌞 #communitygarden#growyourown#organicgarden#flowers#seedlings#sprouting

For as long as I can remember I’ve adored sunflowers. I love that out where I’m from, these grow rogue along the highway. I’d pick them on the way home for mum and then pick some on the way back to the city as a little for-as-long-as-they’d-last reminder of sunny Gunny.
When my brothers were born they were lining the highway from our hometown into the hospital and I collected them to celebrate their births.
At the moment these beauties are bursting tall and deeeelightful in the community garden and I find myself kind of personifying them. Sitting for longer than I otherwise would. Letting their flowery friendship fill me up. Learning the little lessons they’re subtly teaching...

Thank you @scottrogowsky for mentioning #elizabethstreetgarden as one of your favorite places in #NYC in @nymag: “For our Reasons to Love New York issue, we spoke to @hqtrivia host @scottrogowsky about the place that makes him love the city: Elizabeth Street’s endangered garden. The quote daddy says he fell in love with the urban oasis after living across the street from it upon his arrival to New York to host HQ, saying “Its the perfect place for an impromptu picnic, eating in the shade of the many sculptures and trees planted by the neighboring gallery owner in the early ‘90s and today tended by a nonprofit.” But like many of the city’s best places, it’s being threatened by development, and its destruction could be imminent.” .

We love nothing more than Monday meetings at different cafes across town ☕️. This one @torpecafe on Wattletree Road in Armadale has the sweetest little rear courtyard with fresh vegetable gardens, shade from an old native tree and hanging Edison globes 👌🏼 #lovemyniche
