Repost @reiniergamboa drawing our first amazing Miami story featuring Houston Cypress for our new collaborative art storytelling project called #RememberingMiami . ....
"A couple of weeks ago @bitl.earth and I traveled to the Everglades west of Miami to interview Houston Cypress a Two-Spirit poet, artist and activist from the Miccosukee community. Houston runs @love_the_everglades which aims to protect and raise awareness about the area. ---
This drawing was inspired by a story he told us about Rabbit, a mischievous trickster which appears in several Miccosukee tales. ---
This is the first of many entries to come as part of a project named " Remembering Miami". The aim is to interview a diverse group of voices from our local community ( Miami ) and ask them to share a little bit about their background and experience when it comes to the topic of climate change.
Since Miami is ground zero for sea level rise we are choosing to look at the present from the perspective of a future generation. Did we wait too long to connect the dots and unite to face reality? Or did we choose to remain in our tiny bubbles, oblivious of the greater reality and issue affecting all living beings on Earth. This is part of my journey to step out of my bubble and gain a better understanding of my surroundings and the community I'm a part of."
Before starting my #healthjourney I was struggling with what I could and could not eat. I cut most foods out of my diet and some days I felt like it would be better to eat at all because of how miserable I would feel after a meal. I had no energy, I was living off of Starbucks to keep myself going I was spending sooo much money on groceries! My spare time was going to meal prep in the evenings which meant I needed another venti iced latte to stay awake to meal prep and get the house together for the next day. I wanted #somethingbetter . I had been spending a considerable amount of time searching for the answer. No one actually introduced me to this #system . I FB and Insta stalked the wife of a coworker who I thought was beautiful and bad ass, I needed to know her secret. Through my stalking, I found the link to #thebabecampaign website, FB and Insta. For over a year I followed the pages until finally I commented on one of the posts. It was then that Kari reached out to me. I could not be more grateful to her for that initial message. I was just waiting for the “right opportunity” to jump in, and if it hadn’t been for Kari I may have still been just FB/insta/website stalking until this day. I have been #nutritionallyrebalancing for over a year now. This was #theanswer to my stomach issues, I still cannot eat a lot of things, but I don’t have to worry about that because 2/3’s of my meals are planned for me. I have SO MUCH #ENERGY . I have extremely cut back on my Starbucks habit. I L O V E my Starbucks, but I don’t need it anymore, it’s only a treat not a necessity. This saved me a ton of money PLUS not having to spend a ton on groceries. Packing my lunch for work is a breeze 💁🏼♀️. I didn’t even know I had been carrying extra bloat with me until a few months after being on the system and seeing the results. I have found a #community that I can go to for anything. I watch these amazing and #inspirational women and men with their journey, and I can’t help but be #grateful . This #business literally changes people’s lives and it is so amazing to see it- it’s time for me to be a part of it. You can be a part of it too 💫

Tonight I was going through some old posts and things I was tagged in and I am so sad. The booktubergram community used to have so many other great accounts that paved the way for us now and they’re not really active anymore. They were my friends and like friends do sometimes we fell out of touch. Out of the 20ish fan accounts/Booktube lovers that took place in the CRACKERS convo, I’d say about 5 are semi active. The Dysfunctional Family has slipped apart.
You new booktubergrams, you may not even know the accounts I name! They’ve changed from Booktube to multi fandom or YouTube or to bookstagram and some just left. I’m not mad at them, I just miss them a lot. @xtinemay13 @xtineslay @xtinemayer @xtineandkat @booksplosiongram @booktubefam @booktubeismylife @adventuresoftheliterarynature @polandbananasgirl @ibananasbooks @sashaupdate @sashaisperfection @cityofsashaalsberg @x.tinemay @youtube.extravaganza and others I cant name because they’ve deactivated. And I know I’ve forgotten many others. It’s just, in my three years of this account(??) I’ve made and lost so many friends. We’ve separated and chosen our niches and our closest friends. Some have grown up and lost interest or felt like it wasn’t fun anymore. Anyway, I’m just reminiscing and if any of you want to, feel free to dm me. I’d love to get close again. Bella, Bella, Shay, Jaylia, Von, Grace, Kathleen, Maya, Rafaela, Christine, everybody I didn’t name, I love and miss y’all. You may take the person out of the famdom but never the famdom out of the person. With that, I’m going to go look through more old posts. Good night ladies, gents and nonbinary bents! This community is everything and I love all of you! 💚💚💚 #Booktube#booktubagram#booktubagramreads (that was a book club some of us started! It was incredible!) #booktubergram#famdom#community#reminiscing

In a country who widely believes that children born with special needs are shameful and embarrassing, Pawana Devi holds tight to her 4 children, all of whom are special needs. Surya Uday School for Children with Special Needs works with Pawana to change this mentality and show that her family is not a burden to society or herself, but a magnificent blessing from God. NEEM is partnered with Surya Uday to help provide malnutrition assessments, nutrition education and proper access to food to families with mentally and physically disabled children. 💛 Check out our IGTV for the full version.

What is your dog practicing?
I'm not just talking about the 1/2 hour or 1 hour of 'official training' that you may do with your dog everyday - because even if you do dedicate that much time every day to training your dog, that leaves another 23 hours of the day that your dog is still practicing other behaviors.
Whichever behaviors and states of mind that your dog is practicing during those times, those are the ones that are most likely going to stick.
Think about this: getting a massage or going to the chiropractor once a week for an hour will not 'undo' 40 hours of sitting hunched over in a chair. It will help but it won't undo it. We are better off learning how to sit ergonomically, stretching periodically and conditioning our muscles - strategies to train our bodies how to deal with the stress we are putting on them.
Same goes for dogs: going to a training class once a week, or even doing it yourself 1 hour/day, will not make up for 23 hours without guidance, feedback, rules, structure, consequences or appropriately timed and authentic affection.
So, what is your dog practicing?
So much of the beauty surrounding us is invisible and intangible. What we can see and touch is only a fraction of the divine gifts to which we have access. However beautiful these images are, it is the moments, the exchanges, the laughter, and the internal shift that softens and permeates the heart. To stop and be present, To love and to be loved, to accept God’s grace and mercy, to receive abundance into this heavy messy heart. This is the intangible invisible beauty that gives us life.
