Rises Reviews 🎥. Movie: Green Book. Just this week, I have finally got the chance to see a movie I have been looking forward to for some time and that film in question is Green Book, a period road movie based on the unlikely friendship between Italian-American bouncer-turned-actor Anthony "Tony Lip" Vallelonga, played by Viggo Mortensen, and world class, African-Americam pianist Don Shirley, played by Mahershala Ali. Set in 1962, the film sees the out-of-work and tough-talking Tony Lip being recruited by the more sophisticated Shirley to serve as his driver and bodyguard during his two month performance tour in the Jim Crow-era Deep South, where their indifference and initial friction with one another evolves into a personal bond. On the surface, this seems like a engineered "Oscar baiting" movie with a it's themes of a forged friendship amidst racial hostility of a earlier time period, but what I saw was a well-acted and entertaining film elevated by the immaculate chemistry between Viggo Mortensen, who plays against type as the slovenly wise-ass Tony Lip, and the always chameleonic Mahershala Ali as the heavily cultured Shirley and the strength comes from the humor formed by their differences in race and class and drama surrounding around the mistreatment Shirley endures during the tour and how he manages to maintain his dignity with Lip overcoming his own bigoted viewpoints in the process. Peter Farelly, who is more famous for his more lowbrow comedies such as There's Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber along with brother Bobby, also plays against type with a much refined, exuberant and competent direction of the material (co-written by Lip's son Nick Vallelonga) and knowing how to balance the light-hearted humor with tenderness without eschewing the serious subject matter. Green Brook is a solid period piece that's benefits from Mortenson and Ali's splendid and funny dynamic. Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
Rises Reviews 🎥. Movie: Instant Family. After hearing the suprising amount of praise going towards Instant Family, the currently released comedy-drama staring Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne as adoptive parents, I decided to check it out for myself and it truly lives up to the generally favorable responses. Directed and co-written by Sean Anders, who partially based the premise on his own experience as an adoptive parent, Wahlberg and Byrne play Pete and Elite, a couple who want to start a family and visit a foster care system where they take in three siblings - rebellious 15 year-old Lizzie (Isabella Moner), the adorable yet chaotic Lita (Julianna Gamiz) and accident-prone Juan (Gustavo Quiroz) - in hopes of filling that void in their married but come to find how increasingly challenging parenthood can be for the two. Based on the previews and Anders' previous works (the sub par yet profitable Daddy's Home movies) I thought that this was going to be another dopey, unfunny comedy with a shameless White savior angle to it but instead this is a rather pleasant and hilarious film that treats it's concept with earnestness when it comes to the performances of Wahlberg and Byrne, and honesty as the film tackles how troubling the system can be as well as facing the realities of handling kids with different walks of life. It's a relatable and heartfelt premise that felt hampered by it's overt sentimentality, especially towards it's very Hollywood-like ending, but in the end Instant Family proved to be a thoughtful and funny viewing experience buoyed by Anders touching direction and exceptional comedic and dramatic performances from it's cast. Rating: 8 out of 10.
Now to kick off today's milestones. First, happy 20th anniversary to the fantasy children's film Jack Frost, starring Michael Keaton as a deceased musician who is resurrected as a snowman a year after his tragic death in a car accident and finds the time to reunite with his son Charlie (Joseph Cross). I use to watch this purely based on my admiration of Michael Keaton and he is good here even if it's his voice coming from this creepy looking snowman, but the material is lacking in laughs and comes across as overly sappy. Kids might get a kick out of this, but I dont know about the adults. Plus, I always found it funny that this came out around the same time the R-rated, darkly comedic horror movie Jack Frost aired on cable.

Happy 35th anniversary to Terms of Endearment, James Brooks' acclaimed, Oscar winning comedy-drama adapted from the 1975 novel and starring Shirley Maclaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, Jeff Daniels, John Lithgow, and Danny Devito. The film traces the relationship between widow Aurora (MaClaine) and her daughter Emma (Winger) as they both deal with their close yet strained bond, hangups in their love lives, new relationships, and loss in the most witty and poignant way imaginable. James Brooks has always examined his characters with relatability, humor and warmth and can create moments of hilarity and sadness hand-in-hand due in part to his sharp writing, confident direction and a outstanding cast. Terms of Endearment is classic dramedy for the ages.

REVIEW - Private Life 🌟🌟🌟🌟
‘Blindspotting’ is a indie comedy drama that was released back in August that I was planning to see but wasn’t able to get the opportunity to see it in theaters. I finally saw and finished watching it literally just now and I want to give it a shout out because this is the best movies I’ve seen all year that tackles various issues pertaining to race. The last half hour of this movie is suspenseful and powerful dramatically. It really highlights and goes in depth with issues extending from police brutality, racial profiling, gentrification, and the struggle of reforming as a felon. The comedy for me was hit or miss about 50/50. The comedy sometimes seemed like it tried too hard to be funny but the drama was there and it was raw. The character relationships felt real and you are rooting for the main character. You feel for this guy. This is a great movie that needs to be seen by people. I find flaws with it but in the end, the messages it illustrates through its blunt raw drama and comedy, really elevates this movie to being one of the best films of the year for me. #blindspotting#indiefilm#comedydrama#comedydramafilm#blindspottingthemovie

#OnThisDay 2nd Dec 2011, Ninjago : Masters of Spinjitzu premieres on Cartoon Network.
If you're fans of Ninjago, you must be collected the Lego Ninjago's and watch this series!
Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is an animated television series produced by Wil Film ApS and The Lego Group and distributed by The Lego Group for Cartoon Network. Based on the Lego Construction Toys of the same name, it centers on the fictional world of Ninjago, telling the story of a group of young Ninja and their battles against the forces of evil. As of September 3, 2018, Ninjago replaced Adventure Time as the longest running show currently airing on Cartoon Network.
The show is set in the fictional world of Ninjago, a place inspired by East Asian myths and culture. While featuring several historically designed buildings and traditional clothing, Ninjago is in a modern setting, incorporating large metropolises with skyscrapers, current-age (and futuristic) vehicles, modern electronics and semi-robotic exo-suits, and other futuristic technology. It includes elemental masters, pirates from another realm, and a criminal gang known as the Sons of Garmadon are all included in this series.
i've watch this series from season 1-3 only, and the rest of the season i've never watched it.
oh, btw this is the longest show after Adventure Time and it's 1 year after the premiere.
Happy #7YearsofNinjagoMastersofSpinjitzu !
