Lou boy😍 hopefully going on a big ride with Lou and Kota this weekend! It will probably be COLD up there, but the colors are AMAZING😍🍂🍁❄️ So we are gonna brave the cold and go:) It will be Lou and Lakota’s first big ride without any of my moms experienced horses! Excited to see how they do:)
Here is a photo from the one ride on Jazzi that I never planned to share on social media.
This was and is the ONLY time she ever offered this kind of behavior with me on her back. It was 100% my fault. It was around her 18th ride, and I was trying way too many new things at once (spurs being one of those things), and was pushing her way too hard. She got overwhelmed and it resulted with her rearing. No one got hurt, I stayed on. And I learned a lesson.
The lies of the enemy flooded my mind after that ride, that I’m going to ruin her, that I’m not experienced enough to train this horse correctly, etc, etc, etc (which is why I never shared this).
But I did my best to kept my chin up, trust Jesus, and the very next day, we went and had an absolutely WONDERFUL ride (you can see vids - 18th ride under #JazziTraining ). A 2yo horse is equivalent to a 10yo kid... they have very short attention spans. They can only focus for so long before they stop trying, get frustrated and overwhelmed. That’s why keeping things fun and positive (as much as you can - obviously when they need discipline, do so swiftly), is greatly important.
I try to always be conscious of this, but there were times this year, like this ride, and I asked for way too much from her. But you know what? I learned from it, from my mistakes, and that’s what really matters.
As always I try to be as real and honest with you guys as possible, and I especially want to be with my training with Jazzi. So here this is. We all make mistakes and have bad days !!! We’re all learning here. No one knows it all. Hopefully this may encourage somebody today. #JazziTraining#ColtStarting#KeepinItReal 🤘🏽
My 'quick ride' view for today. Huckleberry was petty energetic tonight..I think Peach might have bit him where the saddle goes.... and it was ouchy. He felt like he was trying to hurry up and be done.... but in a patient Huckleberry way. Good ride, another one under his belt. I'll let him rest for a couple days and see how he feels this weekend. .
Some the gear Adam uses every day for various horses.
These bosals are an important part of training and getting a horse to understand a signal to a soft feel along with a good horse mane hair mecate it’s an art form. 🐴🤠
Just a red horse doing what red horses do! ❤️ Picture from our second ride. I rode with my spurs to have a little more go effect. We got moody about 1/2 way through don’t understand the walk without following a human quiet yet.
Does this pony make my butt look big? 🤣😂 Seriously..
Someone has to start ponies. Most kids don't have enough skill or experience, so here I am. Even though I'm way too big for Sho-shoni, I am a very balanced rider, and he is a strong, stout little guy, and he can handle my weight, no problem.
I'm hoping he doesn't dump me, being bested by a tiny pony would be super embarrassing!
Shopping time!! 🎁🎉
I spoilt myself with Some New horse stuff. I’m so in love with it.. I Finally received my dream blanket( swipe to see) it’s a good medicine blanket from mustang, I love the feathers on it! 🤭😍 and! I bought new tack set second hand and i’m obsessed!!.. a beautiful one ear bridle, with a GORGEOUS matching breast collar 🤤 a back cinch and a nose band ( but that one is to small unfortunately) but the rest is perfect. Swipe to see some photos, better photo’s will come of course, but I just fitted it, and ride for 15 minuets, she did great, but she’s still a bit struggling with the bit. 🙃
I’m like the happiest child when I have new horse stuff, especially tack. I always been obsessed with it, I just love it so much! I would love to make my own tack on day.. and train myself in leather work. 😍 -
do you love tack? And if so what’s your favorite part about it?
