I debated posting about this, as it’s a bit of a taboo subject. But as it’s such a big part of my gut healing journey, I think it deserves a mention.
I’m talking about colonics and at-home enemas 🙈💩😁 So far, I’ve have three treatments with my Colon Hyrotherapist, and have been doing enemas at home - using a mix of coffee, and bicarbonate of soda+salt enemas - for a little bit longer.
I’m absolutely feeling the benefits of clearing out all of the crap, literally (sorry if that’s TMI 🙊). I’m feeling lighter, brighter, clearer, and more focused... better than I’ve felt in a long time. I know my restricted diet is part of this improvement too, and I also think that it be summertime helps - I’m such a sunshine girl ☀️ Today is coffee enema day and I’m making a fresh batch of coffee. Following the Wellness Warrior’s instructions (https://youtu.be/42Op5xliRNI): I bring 1 litre of water to boil; add 6tbsp organic coffee; boil for 3mins; and then simmer for 15mins. After straining, it’s ready to go. I only use 250ml of each batch (the WW uses 500ml), and top it up with 750ml of water. I freeze the rest in individual portions, so it’s not as time consuming the next time... #enema#coffeeenema#colonic#colonhealth#myhealingjourney#healingmygut#guthealingjourney#guthealth#digestivehealth#leakygut#dysbiosis#sibo#candida#histamineintolerance#CFS#iamhealing

-Yuca is delicious!
-Yuca is a staple long enjoyed throughout Latin America, Asia, and Africa, but only first starting to gain popularity in the US!
-Yuca is an incredibly versatile root vegetable that can be made into pretty much anything that can be made from wheat or other gluten-containing grains - yet it’s gluten-free!!!!
*Yuca is also incredibly good for you and for the beneficial probiotic bacteria of the gut!!!
Many take probiotics on a daily basis. But did you know that probiotics need prebiotics (foods high in fiber and resistant starch) in order to flourish? Yuca is an excellent prebiotic source of resistant starch.
Resistant starch got its name because it literally resists digestion throughout the small intestines. It makes its way all the way to the large intestines undigested. It’s here where it becomes food for beneficial probiotic bacteria, thereby supporting colon health. Within the large intestines it ferments into short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) such as butyrate, which provide numerous potential health benefits including:
-promoting the growth of good bacteria and inhibiting the growth of bad bacteria in the gut.
-improving the integrity of the gut lining, which keeps toxins from entering the bloodstream and guards against numerous potential conditions including fatty liver, heart disease, and autoimmune disease.
-decreasing inflammation in the gut, thereby supporting colon health.
-reducing the risk of developing gastrointestinal disorders, colon cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
-lowering the blood-glucose response to food and improving insulin sensitivity in people with Type 2 Diabetes.
-making us feel full faster and reducing fat storage.
-improving cholesterol and triglyceride levels
-improving vitamin synthesis and enhancing absorption of minerals.
Bottom line - #EatYuca to support your gut microbiome and your overall health! .

The colon is part of the digestive system. Its been researched and proved that a healthy colon is a happy colon.
Colon toxicity has a lot to do with our overall health. These toxins in the digestive track are absorbed by the bloodstream, resulting in the body’s inability to metabolize food properly or to provide vital energy for living.
Below are some symptoms of colon toxicity

My go to when it is that time of the month and I have that awful abdominal bloat. #PCOS stomach is bad enough. I drink this either first thing in the morning or right before bed. The main ingredient is senna leaf and it should never be taken for more than 7 days as it is a stimulant and your body can become dependent
📨SOTY July Newsletter📨.
Peace, y'all! I hope you are having a beautiful day. The SOTY newsletter will be sent out later this week, + the topic will be on GUT and COLON health and how crucial it is for Black women to care about it (nearly 90% of colon cancer cases almost African Americans could have been prevented with diet and check ups). .
Not everyone has health insurance, but thankfully there are foods that we can eat to help boost our gut flora, immune system, and mood! You'll also get a super easy tutorial for my affordable ($2-5), 2-ingredient, raw organic sauerkraut recipe. I'll also be talking about some of my pro and prebiotic faves (I know all y'all may not love sauerkraut, lol) as well as why gut health is so important for babies (even while they are in utero!).

Being diagnosed with a chronic disease of any kind takes time to come to terms with. I think it's easy to be naive and think it will never be you, and then when it is, it's just hard to fathom. Nothing can prepare you for it. You have no choice but to take it for what it is and deal with it each day. You have no choice to be weak or strong. You just have to keep going through the motions. I just hope one day their will be a cure for others. I am thankful for the medical advances we have today. As much as I hate these medications and as much as I don't want to take them, it's what we have and it's better than nothing. It may not be a cure but it can be life saving. I am told I should notice a difference by this weekend on Predinisone and Apriso. Otherwise we move to IV therapy and that makes me so anxious. It comes down to a few days. Then their is what if IV therapy doesn't work? Do they take my Colon? What will that be like trying to raise 3 kids and recover from major life changing surgery? In the world of autoimmune diseases and IBDs their are so many what ifs and questions we won't ever have answers for. I'm just here to say, you're not alone in this. I too, feel alone but I'm not. Stay strong and keep spreading awareness.
Wanna add some nutritious fiber to your dinner tonight? Brussel sprouts are my favorite quick healthy addition to any meal!! 4 grams of fiber in one cup, plus lots of vitamins (K, C, A, manganese and folate) and antioxidants to fight off colon cancer and improve your heart health! My favorite recipe is roasted with a honey balsamic glaze! Roast of 20 minutes in the oven w olive oil, salt and pepper. Then add honey and balsamic vinegar! These mini cabbages are not just a fad they are here to stay as far as I’m concerned so eat up for colon health!
Bloating is a pretty common problem. It can be hard to pinpoint the cause of bloating because there are so many factors that play a part in bloating, like your sensitivity to certain foods, your gut health, your water retention, and hormones. Women are especially susceptible to bloating during their menstrual cycle, because increased hormonal changes cause increased water retention. One way to possibly decrease bloating is by incorporating prebiotic and probiotic foods in your diet. These foods promote the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut, and increase metabolic health. Some prebiotic foods include garlic, onions, asparagus, bananas, and oats. Some probiotic foods include yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, tempeh, kimchi, and kombucha. Unfortunately, many prebiotic foods contain a type of short-chain carbohydrates that don’t get digested, and ferments in your gut. For the average person, these special carbohydrates (called FODMAPs-fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols) feed your healthy bacteria and increase your gut health. However, for people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other digestive problems, these FODMAPs lead to gas formation and can cause bloating and discomfort. Because of this, it’s important to see your doctor if you are experiencing common bloating and/or discomfort. If there is a specific food that causes you problems, avoid that food! Also, make sure that you are eating enough fiber, which cleans out your digestive tract. You can find fiber in foods like lentils, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, raspberries, avocados, whole wheat pasta and bread, oatmeal, and seeds. There is a lot of info in this post so message me if you have any questions! Happy Tuesday!
I BREAKDOWN, DIGEST, ABSORB & EXCRET, BUT...
You forget about me!
-I am your immune system; treat me badly and I'll make you sick. Cause inflammation and put you at risk for disease.
-I breakdown foods; eat process and I'll give you cramps & constipation.
-I absorb nutrients from food to the blood that feeds your body; keep me encrusted with fecal matter and I'll block good things (keep you wondering why you eat well and can't lose weight).
-I eliminate waste; drink alcohol, eat sugars and take harmful medications I'll make you bloat, lethargic and ache.
You forget I am more than your trash bin, I am connected to the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Mess with me and I'll mess with you.
☕️ + 💩 = 😄
For some of you, have you ever wondered why a morning cup of coffee leads to a trip to the 🚽? .
Coffee is a stimulant (otherwise, why would we drink the stuff? 😂) and in about 30% of the population it can stimulate the colon.
Our intestinal and colon motility (movement) is greatest in the morning so adding a cup of coffee to your daily routine might be just the trick to help you 💩. ....
Other tricks to keep you regular:
1️⃣ NEVER ignore the urge to 💩. When you do that, your body starts to reabsorb the water in it, making it harder to poop later
2️⃣Try to make it part of your morning routine
3️⃣Take your time when you 💩. If you are stressed 😩 or rushed, you may find yourself straining to pass a bowel movement which can cause damage to your pelvic floor (which can then make it even harder to poop)
4️⃣ include fiber in your diet- about 25-35 grams per day. Fiber can be helpful when needing to loosen your stool, or bulk it up. See a naturopath if you have questions on digestive health.
5️⃣ Stay hydrated!!!! .
Stay tuned for another post about 💩posture later this week! .

Scope complete and home now to recover. The procedure went well but my ulcerative colitis has spread and is worse overall so I get to start the dreaded Prednisone steroid. If the apriso mesalimine (another oral medication does not keep it under control then I will have to start heavy IV therapy medications. 😭 This is not what I expected today. He said the Prednisone should really help bring things under control and as much as I don't want to take it, it may save my life and colon. I pray it does because this is becoming worrisome.
For my Monday Detox
I start my day will a warm glass of lemon water
Ism planning to have a late lunch between 2 and 4: 00pm.i call it chumbot salad. It is mix of apple, chopped kale, red cabbage, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds... with aapple cider vinaigrette. No oil added in the vinaigrette. For the vinaigrette I mix apple cider with mustard. Cherries are on the page for snack either early this morning or late afternoon for snack. If I am too hungry or feel some kind of cravy, I will cheat a little with a small piece of avocado accompanied with one of Bobolo. Bobolo is a cameroonian side dish made with fermented cassava. It not too calorique I think!
And you what are having for your Monday detox?🤔
