So I had posted this scabbard around on the interwebs trying to get some help identifying it.
It came with a nice UFH M1905E1 cut down I won on an online auction for a "M1 Garand Bayonet". So I asked around on various forums ect about what people knew about it. I was told it was French, Argentinian, Iranian, and also told it was a rare USA bayonet trials scabbard. Seems no one knew what it was.
So I called up one of the foremost bayonet authorities in the USA, Dennis Ottobre (goes by Otto), to see what the story on it is.
So it is supposedly a Northern European manufactured (evidence points to Belgium) post WWII replacement scabbard for M1 type bayonets. It is all metal and very nice, but has ZERO markings on it. I have been told it is very rare and probably worth several hundred dollars in the right auction setting.
So folks, if you have something that no-one knows what is, dig, dig, dig. We live in the information age, so seek information!
Otto charges a small fee for the consult, but it was very much worth it to learn more about this unique scabbard!
His website is http://www.ebayonet.com/
Starting to sell low-med end cards that don't have a home in my collection to @checkoutmycards
Has anyone here previously sent submissions to them? Any success or failures? Tips or advice? I am getting a bit sick of @ebay

One of the most interesting things about the Spice Girls is their branding. From their first single they were pitched as 5 individuals, not needing to appear in the same photo on their album cover, yet were undoubtedly best mates. It was this celebration of their individuality which I believe contributed to their unimaginable success. Even their debut single lyrically introduced us to the individual members and the music video ended with their individual names appearing on the screen. These were 5 girls who were part of one thing, and still are. They’ll never escape the brand of Spice and thankfully now they all seem resolved about this. I didn’t become a fan of their solo work because I saw them as amazing solo artists, although they were. It was a natural evolvement of the band and one which excited me endlessly. I’ll never forget hearing songs like ‘I Want You Back’, ‘Look At Me’, ‘Goin’ Down’ and ‘Out of Your Mind’ for the first time. They were all so surprising yet after a moment’s thought, made perfect sense. The five components of the Spice brand were always pitched as individuals, their own Cadbury’s flavours, their own Walkers crips badges. In stark contrast to the Pussycat Dolls or Westlife, bands in which the members have created little impact as solo artists (perhaps with the exception of Scherzinger). So collecting memorabilia from their solo ventures is just as important to me, if a little all-consuming (I mean how many Victoria Beckham dresses can one Doctor own?). The Spice brand has seen it’s members professionally pair up, triple up and quadruple up over the years, so why should solo be different? Some of the rarest Spice Girls merchandise is that from solo ventures, and for me, this makes collecting endlessly addictive. This is a story that is far from over. Doc xx

Generalleutnant Kurt von Briesen (Kommandeur 30. Infanterie-Division) witnessing his troops parading in the Avenue Foch, Paris on the 14 June 1940.
Days earlier, 30. Infanterie-Division had been approaching Paris from the north, with the intention of by-passing the city and continuing the pursuit of the French troops who had retreated to the south.
When Briesen heard the news that Paris was declared as an "Open City", he decided to send a small patrol to the city to confirm the rumour.
On their return, the patrol reported that there was no resistance and that all French military had left.
With that, Briesen decided to change the intended route of his troops and head directly for the city of Paris.
When Briesen arrived at the Champs-Élysées, he ordered the 30. Infanterie-Division to march through the Champs-Élysées accompanied by a full military band with him on horseback, saluting them as they passed.
The incident received widespread press coverage, and was often misunderstood as a German forces victory parade after a French Army surrender. (Colourised by Royston Leonard)
