In case you haven’t heard, Boston raised their qualifying times by 5 minutes. That means, in order for me to get back in, I have to run ~3:27 to actually get past registration. Two minutes faster than the last time. About 5 seconds faster per mile. Math I meditate on every time I work out. Will I be healthy enough to do it in 2019? Maybe. Will I make it? Maybe. Will I try? Definitely. The biggest variable in my life right now—my gut—is about to get schooled. #colitis 💙💛
Which parent were you this summer?
Did you jump at the chance of throwing on a swimsuit or hide out under a towel in the background?
I used to be the one that hid in the background. That person that had kids way younger then the rest of her friends I always felt like I had “let things go” way before everyone else.
But for 3 years my iPad (smartphones and computers work too!) and I have been having dates 4-6 times per week and it’s made me realize that those last 30-20-10 lbs that I wasted my time talking about were not the barrier in getting me off the sidelines and in on the fun.
It was my mindset!
While most watch my physical journey it’s the internal growth that has gotten me this far.
That means plugging in daily to motivational podcasts, YouTube has become my Google for words of wisdom on any mental blocks I’m experiencing, the “self-help” section of the bookstore and the library are now my fav where before I judged those that visited it and my fit family are always there to pull me out of my own way when I mention any foolish excuse.
It wasn’t easy. It didn’t happen over night but it took less time to change my mindset and my body image then the years I spent wasting my daughter’s toddler years sitting on the sideline.
Summer’s over and the Halloween treats, PSL lattes, oversized sweaters and leggings are back.
I get it! It’s easy to forget the discomfort of the summer activities now that we are back in our comfort zone but do you know what?
The day is now. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Give me 8 weeks and I will change your body, your mindset, your outlook, your self-love and the rest of your life!
Be the change you need! I’m here to help!
Holy crap on a cracker 😓😴 I went back to the doctors today as things didn't settle down with the quick course of steroids so i am now on antibiotics to see if that will help any and get rid of any infection. I finally got some anti sick tablets to! Thank goodness! I am absolutely 110% exhausted and feel like i need to sleep for a week 😴
My output into my bag is like water. Which is VERY unusual for me! Its also filling up quickly meaning more bag changes in a day. Probably part of the reason i feel drained.
I havent been sick for a couple days but the feeling is always there.
My skin is a mess. From head to toe. My scalp has sore bits on it. My armpits are a mess and so are my legs 😷 ive been referred to a skin specialist to.
Yeah so im a ray of fucking sunshine right now 🙄😂 Someone send help....or a hitman 🤷🏻♀️ #colitis#chronicillness#chronicpain#autoimmunedisease#autoimmune#ulcerativecolitis#mouthulcers#skinspecialist#antibiotics#infection#exhausted#spoonielife#spoontheory#helpme#sendhelp#putmedownplease
Feeling really overwhelmed today, had a home visit with my manager and HR and I am officially going back to work on Wednesday after 6 months off sick. I was incredibly stressed with work before my health issues started and after everything that’s gone on I’m not sure I can cope with that level of pressure again. I’m going back to a complete new role with even more responsibilities too just to make it that little bit more daunting 🙈 I am so grateful to be well enough to start considering going back but today I just feel like hiding away from everyone and everything 🙄 anxiety levels are through the roof 😖 also my face is getting fatter and fatter i am blaming the prednisolone 🐷🌚 #stress#prednisolone#arthritis#rheumatoidarthritis#rheumatoidarthritiswarrior#chronsdisease#chronsandcolitis#colitis
Last night I had the privilege to host the @crohnscolitisfoundation Harvest and Hops event! I served on the committee as well and enjoyed seeing all our hard work come together for such a great cause. One day we will find a cure! 💜 #crohnsdisease#colitis
Sooo.... I guess I’m rockin’ the rare card. About a month and a half to two months ago, I began experiencing numbness in my fingers after having my elbow bent for a while. I didn’t think much of it, because I know when you have a muscle still for a long time it can fall asleep. But the numbness in my fingers kept getting worse, and so I saw my doctor. He said that he wasn’t sure what was going on, but he said I should be waaaay too young for something called Cubital tunnel, or carpal tunnel of the elbow. But, sure enough, my MRI revealed that I had cubital tunnel so of course I need to have an extra chunk of muscle removed from my elbow. I’m just praying that I get feeling back in my fingers.
It’s never a dull moment in my life.

Saw this news report today and it made me really sad. Everyone's experiences with IBD are different. I consider myself lucky that I've had surgery and encountered minimal disruption to my life since. Unfortunately, some don't have it as easy. I personally know of more than one person who have IBD & have had the same surgery I have, but still encounter so many debilitating issues that they can't function normally on a day to day basis and because of that, can rarely leave the house. Things I take for granted now I've "got my life back", sadly haven't happened for others. PIP for those that need it with IBD is rarely given, and some of us really do need it. My heart goes out to this girl. Everyone's IBD journey is different, it's not a case of "one size fits all". That's not the nature of the disease. So today I am thankful that I have been able to return to a relatively"normal" life, while thinking of those that struggle and just aren't getting the support they need 💜

This is what fighting a chronic illness looks like....
Can you see anything obvious that shows I have a chronic illness.. 🤔
Dont judge a book by its cover and more importantly dont look at others and think everything is going great in their world.... looks are only on the surface 🙌👌
What makes IM Kona special?
I'm not a qualifier, so what makes #IMKona special to me?

“The very first thing my Gastro Doctor says after coming through the curtains after my colonoscopy: “I don’t know what you are doing, but you are doing THE RIGHT THING!” ⠀⠀
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis 5 years ago
No meds they gave me helped me
So I took Miralax and Colace every day
That was a bandaid and was doing more damage to my body than good
Then I found these amazing supplements! ⠀⠀
I have been on the products for a year 😆🙌 TODAY 🙌😆 I GOT THE REPORT THAT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ULCERATIVE COLITIS ⠀⠀
🌟ALL GLORY AND PRAISE TO GOD! 🌿🙏🙌
And when your GI doctor asks for more information on these products, you know you have found the #realdeal 🌿👌”

•Sometimes we kinda forget what it’s like to work on ourselves. We get so focused on so many things between work, families, activities, just daily activities and the hustle never stops. My crazy hair describes how I feel about my life, a mess and the only thing that changed was me not focusing as much on me. •I love what I do as a side hustle, help people to remember to focus on themselves because you know what? This sh*t is tough and we need to remember that we can and will get through it. Y O U are important and Y O U need to take care of yourself because nobody else will. •I’m calmer, accomplish more, and not drained out when I focus on myself. My workouts aren’t torture because I get a sense of accomplishment and like my body is clean even though I’m sweaty and gross and smell. (yup just admitted I smell after my workouts) but the reward is so much more. •if you want to help people become a better version of themselves while working on yourself, send me a message or comment below. Promise you don’t have to be perfect and learn as you go *beachbody doesn’t garuntee set income, depends on your hustle
Delicious lunch I had earlier today😛
Everything tasted so good that I wanted repeats. Eating a variety of foods to try and get as much nutrients and vitamins as possible.
Eating healthy and doing exercise are key to staying healthy and feeling good even for people without jpouches.
Spent 4-hours of my day meal prepping and making yummy treats to keep on-hand for when I get hungry. I don’t know about you, but I normally don’t start looking for food until I am STARVING, yelling at everyone, and about 3-minutes away from fainting 😅 also, when I’m this hungry, everything except for one particular food seems repulsing, and I have to have what I’m craving. I’m a monster 😳
When you’re following a strict-healing diet, grabbing a quick snack or meal is nearly impossible, which makes my waiting-till-the-last-second technique a little hard to follow. SO, I’m implementing a prep day for trying new recipes, and making them IN BULK. •
Today I made •donuts •biscuits •jelly •fried chicken and •ginger snaps alllll SCD/AIP. Should be good for the next few days 👌🏼
WARNING: Gross pic of shingles on my face if you swipe! Swipe at own risk!
Takedown surgery is postponed as I currently have shingles. It's very painful because it affects the nerves in my face so my ear, jaw and teeth have been very sore. It's all on the left side of my face. I've basically been drinking smoothies from a straw because it hurts too much to chew. I can't even sleep at night due to the pain. I feel I am now starting to take a turn for the better though. 🙌
It's funny how most post people post only the best pics of themselves on Instagram, clearly I am the opposite lol.

Autoimmune diseases affect more than 50 million Americans! 🥒
An autoimmune disease is when your immune system attacks/damages your own body's healthy cells/tissues and it may attack any area throughout the body. 🥦
For example, with Rheumatoid arthritis the disorder affects the joints, leading to pain of the joints, swelling, redness, and stiffness. Over a long period of time, it may lead to joint deformity. 🥗
A few other autoimmune diseases include celiac disease, which attacks the small intestine leading to malabsorption of certain nutrients, gas, bloating, fatigue, migraines, anemia, and/or osteoporosis. 🍓
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is another one that affects the thyroid gland, leading to hypothyroidism (or under-active thyroid). 🥒
There are many other autoimmune diseases including Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Sjogrens syndrome, and type 1 diabetes, among many others. 🥗
An anti-inflammatory diet may help relieve symptoms associated with these autoimmune conditions. Eating foods that trigger an autoimmune reaction may worsen symptoms and increase pain. Determining food sensitivities and trigger foods, will help relieve pain and reduce inflammation within the body. 🥦

Now that I’ve sufficiently scared the Hell out of everyone... A little explanation. This is mainly for those suffering to possibly help them find answers. If you’re squeamish, keep scrolling... There is a lot of confusion in the #GI world especially today where everyone has #gluten issues, dairy, etc. Who knows maybe we’re all being poisoned. But I’ve been a sufferer since I was 17-19 years old ish. Only it was written off for the first ten “because I was young.” We’ll call that mistake number one. Now, mistake number two is VERY important. #Crohns and #UlcerativeColitis are autoimmune diseases. They are NOT #IBS . They will not pass. There is no cure. Your body is attacking itself. But oftentimes they lead to incessant trips to the bathroom. 🏃🏻♀️🚽 I, was the opposite. In 2014, it was determined that I had zero motility and that my intestines just don’t function on their own. The doctor told me to have them removed. (Like when you see people with a bag.) Still I did not get diagnosed with #IBD (Crohns or #Colitis ) because how could that be. I didn’t fit the “profile.” Except every meal is painful, every thing I eat causes distention and bleeding. More doctors. It’s just bloating. Bacteria. #Sibo . #Leakygut . Then in 2015 I got a severe acute infection called CDiff that tries its damned hardest to kill you. And it came very close with me. #CDiff is an infectious form of Colitis, hard to eradicate but not a permanent lifelong disease like Colitis. In other words when it’s gone it’s gone. Except... Last week I got a new infectious Colitis called #Campylobacter . And this one tried pretty hard to kill me too. The docs did a CT and #colonoscopy and missed the infection. Thankfully, I knew how to #advocate . But in the end, they did find pathologies and genetic markers that said even though both of these were acute, I do in fact have #UC . That I can lose my colon someday. That I am high risk for #coloncancer . And that’s just, well, hard to digest. But the moral is, just because you don’t fit a pattern doesn’t mean you don’t have something. I am the atypical presentation of this disease. Fight for you. Always. 💜
Address the root cause, don’t just treat the side effect!
Got this message from a client yesterday that suffers from Pan colitis!
Could not be happier with how far he has come in just 7 weeks, focusing on his gut health has been the main priority with the side effect being a massive drop in body fat percentage.
Create your body to work FOR you not against you!!!
In this short video you can see how a pre-cancerous colon polyp is simply removed with a wire snare during colonoscopy. No incision. No pain. No bleeding. Back to work the next day. Changing this person's destiny... REMOVE the polyp, PREVENT the cancer.
