It’s National Brownie Day (as if we're not already doin enough cheating on our diets this time of year)! 🍫
So I wanna know, what’s your favorite kind of brownie? Do u like the soft & chewy kind, or maybe you're like me...A firm texture on the outside & chewy on the inside paired w/a tall cold glass of milk (for dipping purposes of course)? 🥛
But ima keep it real with you...I'll eat it all as long as it's a brownie 😆. Fun fact! If we get into an argument and you buy me brownies you're automatically forgiven...Like foreal! 😅
I was walking down the rather dark stone cloisters of the 1000-year-old Chichester Cathedral recently, looking for the signage to the "main attraction" (the church interior), when I turned a corner and suddenly looked towards the ceiling. I gasped at the sight of a network of ancient timbers woven above me - holding everything up.
Me: "Ah! Look at the ceiling!"😲
Tim: "You're just noticing that now?" 🤔
Upon reflection, I realise that I sometimes get in the habit of failing to notice important things on my journey - looking straight ahead, trying to figure out where I am going, seeking signs on walls to direct my path when I am unsure. I miss so much beauty, wonder, and divine direction when I forget to LOOK UP.
Christmas is a dark season for me. It has been for decades. The lights, decorations, sales, parties, glitter, and happy jingles all dampen my spirit until I feel as though I am in a shadowy hallway looking for the way out.
This is the time of year when it is most important to LOOK UP - to focus my attention heaven-ward. The main attraction is not festive sights and sounds, food, friends, or even family. It is Jesus Christ - the One who holds all things up. Jesus Christ - the One who invaded this dark world with His light...and can do the same with any dark season in which I find myself. 🌟
