It’s my dad Terry Brock’s 68th birthday today, and this is an amazing photo of him with his childhood clogging team. ❤️❤️❤️ Love seeing his dance history and the deep roots of my own dance biography, and how we’re connected through time and space. Happy birthday Dad, and thank you for EVERYTHING these 35 years!! I love you! 💘🏆💘 #happybirthday#dad#clogging#dancehistory#dancebiography

Bio Organic Catalyst technology is a green, non-toxic, chemistry model that uses micro-bubbles to break apart organic materials and accelerate decomposition and has provided clean cost effective solutions in wastewater and anaerobic digestion. PhytoCat is a new formulation designed for use as an agricultural input. ⠀
Having shown results in improving soil health and root growth, PhytoCat was also discovered to be vastly more effective at keeping irrigation systems clean then existing caustic chemical options.⠀
So I’m packing to go home to England after my 2 month stay here in CA, and my nephew sends me a tweet from our favourite vlogger, @CaseyNeistat, about an opportunity to go to NY and work on the #Adobe368 identity. Next week. "I wish" I thought. I've only been freelance for 5 minutes. Fuck it, here goes. Here’s my mini-reel, Casey. Shout if you want to see more! 🤞🏼
We had every intention of dancing today. There are some dances we are perfecting and getting ready to choreograph some new stuff. What did we do instead? A little self care. We are both driven people and cutting ourselves slack doesn’t always come easily. Today we decided to show ourselves some kindness. Rae took some time to relax and do a little baking and Allie got some nephew time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the second year my girls have kicked off the Christmas season with breakfast with Santa and for the second year I’m a proud dance teacher. Growing up if you would have asked me if I thought I would ever be a dance teacher the answer was; I’d love to but I don’t think I’ll have the opportunity to. For my fifth year teaching I couldn’t be more proud of everything these girls have accomplished. It warms my heart knowing that they see the love in dance that I saw all those years ago. They allow me to guide them through their growth as a dancer and as a human being.
Here’s to many more years of breakfast with Santa! #dance#teacher#danceteacher#clogginglife#clogging#cloggingsquad#christmas#santa#santahat
I always find the question of how long one has been dancing for a weird one.
I grew up in Brazil, so dance was always around me, as was rhythm and music. In this way, I guess I feel a lot of familiarity with Felipe Braga's backstory in Lindy Hop.
I always felt a musical and creative drive growing up, and I felt I also had various outlets to express myself, especially with the amount of theatre I did growing up. I think a series of disjointed experiences growing up helped inform my body awareness, my ability to express myself, my creativity, and my dexterity. So I wonder sometimes, does Judo count since it informs me of aerials, does the silly antics I pulled off as a child dancing with my mom count? What about theatre performances where I had to control the way I moved my body? What about the period where I played the flute, or the trumpet?
Another reason I find it weird is that someone who sporadically dances during 3 years versus someone that dances intensively and almost every day during a year may not be at such distant levels of experience. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the latter were not an even more comfortable and articulate dancer than the former. Or where you learn, and how you learn? Sometimes you'd be surprised how a good mentor can substantially accelerate your learning.
In any case, I thought it'd be fun to post a picture of one of my earliest experiences where at the time I felt like I was 'formally' dancing and also, I guess, 'performing' dance: When I did clogging (Klompendans) in Brazil.
Yup, take it in. I was such an adorable kid! :P
