Today is my last day working in @ballroomclimbing. Running the kids' clubs has been very educational for me. Amongst the goals I had for them, I tried to inspire them to move more in their lives, to make them aware of their bodies, to help them understand rhythm and coordination, to teach improvisation, and a n understanding that through playful practice, skills of great complexity can be learnt. Some of these are complex concepts, not to be explained with words to kids, requiring more covert teaching practices. Many times I knew I can only plant the seed and an understanding of such lessons will surface years later. I have realised that an idea that could be summed up into a word or two can take half a year to transfer. Ideas through movement over ideas of movement.
