we had such a good time in the Vegas area we didn't even realize we have been here for over a week! we tried out the city thing but mostly spent our time camping with some friends and climbing. it was such an interesting juxtaposition of lifestyles. you can see how thrilled we were about climbing in some of these pics. 😂

To me climbing and training are synonymous. After playing sports my whole life, my competition side naturally transitioned its opinion into my climbing. Why try at something unless you are trying your absolute best? I have many friends who look at climbing differently, that it is a chance to spend time with good friends or simply a way to adventure into the outdoors, not really focusing on the physical aspects of it.
To me climbing is an obsession with achieving athletic perfection and optimum performance. I love seeing how far I can take my body and the subtle progression of improving strength. Climbing is a unique sport in that you don't have to be at the top of the grades to enjoy the most wonderful parts of the sport. But to me, climbing will always be about being strong, trying hard, and achieving the best that I can.
It's funny because in other sports, achieving high performance is accepted but for some reason in climbing it isn't always. If you care about grades or about being strong, or get upset when you fail, sometimes people question your motivations. But my motivations, whether they are always competitive are still just to me, even if different than yours. I care about challenging and pushing myself. Although I love the outdoors (and of course my friends) climbing is my path to bettering my body and watching it get more powerful every day. What's your motivation in climbing? | photo: Johannes Fielder |
Dear @mr.bigstrings, I am so glad you are on this planet and one of my closest friends, that we saw Wonder Woman together, and that you’ll always be there to give me a bouldering pep talk even when I’m in Utah. Here’s to more adventures, more yelling, more political discussions, and maybe one day I’ll carry you around a boulder field just to drop you unceremoniously onto a crash pad. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
On my scout to find the best spot to sit at in the Sads I think I did alright! That view, those features the sunlight. It was hard to go wrong what's a Boulder you enjoy in the Sads? I did not have enough time to try them all so give me some good ones to try next visit! .
Here is @th3duk3 climbing the fang repeatedly haha
Desperately eyeing up my trip to Ticino next week like... A quick throwback Thursday to my send of my greatest nemesis climb possibly ever: Intermezzo (7C). For some reason, this boulder felt completely impossible to me until it went. New Swiss edit is out, link is in the bio. Psych is high for next week and for bouldering season!
📸 @elenabono •
