Navagio Beach or the Shipwreck, is an isolated sandy cove on Zakynthos island and one of the most famous and most photographed beaches in Greece. Navagio Beach is often referred to as the Shipwreck Beach or just simply “The Shipwreck” because it is home to the wreck of a ship called Panagiotis that is believed to have been a smugglers ship. The presence of alleged smugglers ship gave Navagio Beach yet another nick name – Smugglers Cove.
This small and isolated, yet strikingly beautiful sandy cove is located on the north-west shore of Zakynthos Island, near the Anafotiria village, quite opposite of island’s capital Zakynthos. The area is defined by its sheer limestone cliffs, white sand beaches, and clear blue water, which attract thousands of tourists yearly. The strip of beach is accessed only by boat, but you can see it from above if you stand on the high side of the cliffs that overlook it.
Navagio Beach was originally known as Agios Georgios. Then sometime in 1981, the Greek authorities were tipped that a freightliner in the waters around Zakynthos Island is smuggling contraband which included cigarettes, wine and women, and a chase began. Stormy weather and bad visibility resulted in the ship running aground right on Navagio Beach. The ship was abandoned and still rests buried in white sandy dunes of the beach that now bears the nickname Shipwreck. #greece#navigobeach#navigo#shipwreck#beach#shipwreckbeach#visitgreece#visitgreecegr#summer#cliff#cliffs#beautiful#place#color#blue#water#sea#paradise#mytravel#mytravelaffairs#pmltravel#travel#traveling#beautifulplaces#instatravel#trip#landscape#landscapephotography#iphonephotography#iphonpic
Wulingyuan Scenic Area: Zhangjiajie, China.
Scenic might be an understatement in this case. This 100-square-mile attraction contains thousands of sandstone pillars that are nature's version of skyscrapers—some even stretch taller than the Empire State Building's midpoint.
It was the inspiration for avatar's floating mountains.

'Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.'
Being for the first time on top of a mountain is an amazing feeling. It are those first moments after reaching the summit that have the biggest impact on you. All you see are those small things that lie more than 2000 meters below you. For one short moment, you forget everything bad that happened in your life, you just see the sky, the valley and feel the liberating feeling of freedom.
Then, you hear this message from the team radio, coming crystal clear from your headphones: "-You reached the summit, S.C., grande lavoro, prestazione fantastica, it's all over, grazie mille, thank you, great work, unbelievable."
That's the moment where you come to realize what you have actually done. And suddenly, an unexpected wave of emotions is mowing you down, impossible to withstand the appearance of tears of joy.
After that, you think about all those things that made you to the person you became, thinking about all those decisions you took over the years, all those people you had the chance to get to know.
But most importantly, you realize that it is not the amount of money you earn, how many friends you make or even how much you regret not telling your crush how much you admire her/him.
You realize that it are those moments that make your life a little bit more liveable. And it are those moments that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
To finish this unusual post, I just wanted to thank all my family, the few friends that I could get the chance to know in the last several years and my former team back in Switzerland. 🇱🇺🇵🇭🇨🇭🇩🇪
