I started a new line of smaller tower and bubble planters. No tray, but they do have a hole in the bottom for drainage and are perfect for a little cactus or succulent. They will only be available directly from me and are an affordable $45 each. Will update post with dimensions later today. #bxceramics#planters#ceramics#clay#wheelthrown
••Catch me in Clinton, NJ on Saturday, October 6th where I’ll be a vendor at the Main Street Half Marathon EXPO from 1-5pm!••
My little studio has been filled to the brim lately with pieces I’m working on for the expo (which I suppose isn’t saying much bc my studio is TINY). But I am so so excited to keep on making as much as I can. As long as I’m patient & everything doesn’t explode in the kiln, I will hopefully have a lot of pieces left over after the event to post on Etsy for all of you live far away!!
P.S. this picture was taken BEFORE I started prepping for the event/when it was still all nice & tidy & empty. One day soon I’ll do a deep clean👌🏻
I feel I was working on these forever. They're a pretty good size, about 2.5 tall and 6.5 in wide. Getting the letters just right and then painting each letter. Not to mention the waiting between coats. I was up till the wee hours trying to finish but my eyeballs weren't having it anymore. I like the whole personalized magnet deal because growing up I could never find my name in the stores. Who else has a name you never found on keychains and mugs and whatnot?
This pot was made with a Japanese technique called ongi, traditionally used as fermentation jars, these are made on the wheel with coils of clay. The coils are then slapped with paddles to smooth out the surface and rid the vessel of air bubbles trapped in the clay. I’ve just recently started trying out this technique and it can be frustrating. This vessel is just halfway done and weighs about 40 pounds already.
If you want to see some amazing ongi work check out @adamfieldpottery
It should be finished soon! Stay tuned for an update
You never know what might be roaming the night on all hallow's eve!
I love them all, but this has to be my favorite pumpkin I've made. Something about it reminds me of the cute decorations my mother grew up with and that my grandmother adored. When I do part with these, I just might have to make another for myself! 😄
Happy Wednesday, wherever you may be!!
Jingmai Love 2016 from @CrimsonLotusTea is my favorite sheng pu-erh to date. You can imagine that I was elated when Glen gave me a generous sample of the (as yet unreleased) 2018 production of the very same... Find a seat on a moss covered fallen tree in a tropical forest. The air is thick and humidity palpable. You are awash with the intoxicating aroma of everything in bloom. The calm of comfort fills your mind and soothes away the fatigue of a long hike.
The quality and clarity of this tea is evident in both productions. I’ve been drinking Jingmai Love actively for well over a year now, so I’m familiar with its progression and 2018 follows closely in the footsteps of the first. The biggest difference is the thickness in the mouth, and a deeper more nuanced profile that I can only see becoming more alluring with more time for both teas. I don’t know how much 2016 Jingmai love is left but you can be sure I’m going to buy more so that I’ll have access to it for the foreseeable future .
I’d be delighted if you would visit my website and see what I’ve been cooking up. Link in bio!
This is while I was adding the supports. I poked holes in all of the inner walls so that when the outer walls are added there won't be any trapped air pockets. Trapped air can cause the ceramic piece to explode when it is fired.
