We’ve been learning about special places, maps and our local area in HASS this term 🌏 We looked up our local area on Google Maps and then made our own pictorial maps 🎨✍🏻 Who else loves using Google Maps in the classroom? 😀 Such an awesome resource! 👍
Some organisational inspo from a colleague today! I love getting into my classroom nice and early in the break to sort my store room so that I utilise all the shelves throughout the term as best as possible! #labelsfordays#spaceusage#storageideas#usingallspace

I’m ready for Meet The Teacher tonight!!! After all these years, I still get nervous! 🤷♀️ I started doing stations 2 years ago- makes it SOOOO much easier!! They go to each station and end at the photo booth. I got the photo booth signs from @polka.dots.please and @asmilingteacher and put them on paint sticks from Home Depot. Station signs, gift tags, and packet info sheets are on my tpt. Swipe to see all the stations 😊
My room is almost finished- school starts Wednesday! 💃🏻
Do you have a favorite? Mine changes with my mood. This week it's F for Freedom Songs. "Freedom Songs were the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, creating solidarity and giving the activists courage to endure on the long road to freedom. Songs like "We Shall Overcome", "This Little Light of Mine", and "We Shall Not Be Moved", carried the message of the movement on the wind." #themoreyouknow#teachersofinstagram
If you love learning big words, like I do, you might enjoy this unique alphabet book! Each letter introduces a new word, like O for Onomatopoeia! I think this would be a fun way to introduce a word wall or to even create an ongoing big word search with sticky note entries. #hearteyesforbooks#picturebook
A fun and easy way to post your class names is to take a shape and print 3 copies of each student’s name. Fold each copy in half, then glue or staple them together on one side - like #1 right glued to #2 left, #2 right glued to #3 left. Then take the 3D shape and staple the two side flaps to your bulletin board. My own kids helped me make these hot air balloons one year to coordinate with my hot air balloon theme. #classroomdecor#classlist#bulletinboard
Is the start of the school year a little stressful? Don’t worry – you’ve got this. You are the compass guiding your students on their journey, and your compassion and knowledge make an impact. Don’t head back to the classroom without these essentials. To all the #teachers out there, what’s in your bag as you head back to school? #InMyBag
Another fun unboxing of my @owlcrate subscription box for July 2018. Lots of “Strange & Unusual” finds. Love it! See full unboxing video on YouTube. Link to channel in profile. Thanks for watching! #notsponsored
Do you use ten frames for calendar time and counting your days at school? I started a few years ago and love it!! I think Calendar time is the best for teaching math concepts all year so when you come to ten frames, money, place value, etc, they are familiar with it! Agree? And of course- a cute, coordinating calendar makes me happy and that much better! 🤗😍

I keep these original homophone (or “tricky word”) posters in my room just in case 😉 Even though I teach high school, I find it so necessary to provide my students with quick and easy ways to remember these spellings/meanings. .
If you like these, you can pick them up from my #teacherspayteachers store! Link in bio ✅
Reinforcing a growth mindset and explaining that intelligence is changeable is so important at the beginning of each school year. How do you encourage students to believe in the vastness of their abilities? #growthmindset#openmind#openworld#opendoors
