The woman in those two images are Ms. Huang, she is a migrant worker. She rents her room for 18 pounds a month. Five minutes drive from my home, it’s a whole different world. Locals called the architecture style of this migrant village as “shake hand” style , it means the distance between building and building is too narrow so two peoples can shake hand. #emergeningcity
One Hot Summer's Noon series, Chongqing, China, 2018
Longxing Town is a small town in Yubei District of Chongqing. There are ancient temples, ancient villages, ancestral hall, and old street dwellings. Now, Most of the old people live here and the young people go to work in big cities.
The Queen's House lies in the foreground, with later generations of buildings stretching off behind it into the future. This white, elegant building is 400 years old, inspired by classical Roman and Greek architecture (Inigo Jones was the architect), and was the first of its kind in an era when the dark red, browns and blacks of Tudor bricks were the norm. Imagine sailing up the Thames when this was the only building there, and seeing it for the first time, set against the green of the park....after the grimy smoke and choke of the city it must have looked like something from a different world. Still kind of does.
