Tonight we got in two games on #TableTopTuesday . First was #Splendor with the #CitiesOfSplendor expansion. We played with the first of four modules that you get in the expansion, Cities, which changed the victory conditions from first to 15 points to first to claim a city tile. It made the game a little quicker to finish it think, but no less thinky about which gems to go for. Then we played #SpaceBase , one of our favourites from the UK Expo. Similar to #MachiKoro but with more depth, this simple "dice roll-match to cards," mechanic hides a very cool little engine building game where your previous cards, which represent space ships, flip over and go under your board, which then allow you to activate those spaces in other players turns. Great night of games!
Enjoying a two-player-gamenight outside in our garden 🌱 ☀️ Once again, she destroyed me in #Splendor 16:8 😬 … this time it was closer than you would think: she got two nobles just one turn before I would’ve gotten them … Great game! 💎 Can you guess which game we played next?! 😉 #marcandre#citiesofsplendor#asmodee#mywifealwayswins
The new 🌈 ‘Splendor’ expansion ‘Cities of Splendor’ is a welcomed addition to this now classic engine builder! We haven’t tried all the variants in 🌆 Cities, but the ones we have give a bit more strategy to an already great game.
HUGE shout out to Jesse at @space_cowboys_officiel for taking care of me! I received an incomplete #splendor promo set on #ITTD , contacted #asmodee and he completed the set for me and then some! So grateful 🤗
SPLENDOR : a wonderfully light, set collection and engine building game about building a gem empire!
First time playing with the expansion - we tried out the Cities module, which changes the end-game trigger. Nice little add-on to break up the normal game flow strategy.
Paired the game with an also wonderfullya light Ethereous IPA from @proclamationale. Resiny, hoppy, juicy, and super smooth.
💎 CITIES OF SPLENDOR 💎
Cities of Splendor Expansions! There are four types of expansions you can choose from: The Cities, The Trading Posts, The Orient and The Strongholds. Each of these expansions is added to the basic game and has to be played separately. We played The Cities and it was simply brilliant! Tips: For The Cities expansion, you need to become a card hoarder 😉.

WHAT WOULD YOU PLAY? Ok, so my friend Des is over today to play games! She chose these games for us. (She thinks we’ll have time to play ALL THESE and still more time to play more! 🙄) I’m not so confident, but we’ll play what we can. What would you choose first? #boardgames
I love Splendor! 💎 I love Cities of Splendor even more. You all have that friend that wins this game every time. (I do.) The expansion and its variability makes that a little harder.
Played Splendor with expansions for the first time. We used Cities and The Orient, they were really simple to add in but added some neat things to the game. Can’t wait to try the other ones out next time!
Now when researching this expansion I kept hearing about how much the Strongholds module was disliked. But we really enjoyed it! This does make the game a little longer, but that has never bothered us before 😁And it makes you think a little more strategically. We had a great time with this module and would definitely use it again!
The first module we tried was Cities. I enjoyed having something besides nobles to go after, but this was not my favorite module. Maybe it was because the 3 cities we competed for weren’t different enough. It also could have been because we collected every green card before any of us went for the high point cards, there is just something satisfying about picking up a card for free! It could also be because I lost 😉 Definitely need to give this module another try but so far I don’t know if I’d always play with this over using noble tiles.
Got to try out the new Splendor expansion finally! Well 2 of the modules at least. We have always enjoyed the base game by itself but the two modules we tried out didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to try out the other two. I just wish that I could figure out a way to consolidate it all into one box! Maybe I need to look into a custom box insert 🤔
Looks like tonight's session of #splendor will need a tie breaker game sometime! 😁
We tried playing both the cities and strongholds #citiesofsplendor expansions together. It seemed to work just fine but maybe next time I'll trying using only 2 strongholds per player as I prefer blocking to be more of a limited/selective aspect to the game rather than having almost everything blocked.
Anyone else try combining 2 or more of these expansions? I think I'll need some house rules to tweak the 15 point end game criteria up a bit if I try 3 or all 4 expansions at once because some of these expansions provide more ways to score points quicker!
