Fellini is one of the finest italian directors, and probably one of the best in the entire cinema's history; and I Vitelloni is one of his finest works.
The movie set up in a small city of Romagna, and follow the stories of these young men in their attempt to find their purpose in life. The fact is that the "boys" are lazy and the only thing that they can do is....nothing. They're too lazy for everything.
The movie explores the theme of youth and responsibilities linked to it.
The characters in this movie think that they youth will endure forever and so they've not to worry abount anything, nothing seems to worry the characters.
But during the most unexpected moment one of them - drunk - start to think about his failures, his worries and how could he found his role in this world.
Another great element of this film is illusion. Illusion of memory and of time.
The film is a sort of love letter of Fellini for the city and for the atmosphere in which he grew up... The entire film is sorrounded by a sort of nostalgic atmosphere.
I highly reccomend this movie to everyone, is one of the best Fellini's movies.
