Since 1991, the Harvest Festival has provided us with a way to express our thankfulness though gifts of food and time. Today, we collected bags of food during the worship service and sorted it immediately after so it could be promptly delivered to the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris Plains. #feedthehungry#thankful#happyhearts#churchesofinstagram#njchurch#pcctnj
It’s #sunday so it is time for the next image of my series #churches_at_night . This is the Allerheiligenkirche in #Erfurt . The #church is located at the intersection of Allerheiligen- and Marktstraße in the central part of the city. It has the highest steeple (53m) of all churches in the history city center. If you like this kind of picture check out the other stunning churches i‘ve posted.
Richard III Final Resting Place
Richard’s remains are laid in a lead ossuary which is itself placed in a coffin made from English oak. The coffin is then placed in a brick lined vault below the floor of the Cathedral, before the tomb stone seals it closed. The tomb sits within an ambulatory between the newly created Chapel of Christ the King at the east end of the Cathedral and the sanctuary (the most holy place, signified by the main altar) under the tower.
The Normans began the construction of the original St Martin’s church of around 900 years ago. It was rebuilt and enlarged between the 13th and 15th centuries and became the ‘Civic Church’. Just over 100 years ago the Victorian Architect, Raphael Brandon, magnificently restored and, in places, rebuilt the church, including the addition of a 220ft spire. When the Diocese of Leicester was re-established in 1927, the church was hallowed as Leicester Cathedral.
Rebekah meets Eliezer at the well / Artist: Ion Pace / Location: St Mary’s, Clapham /
Eliezer prayed, ‘O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. I am standing here by the spring of water, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. Let the girl to whom I shall say, “Please offer your jar that I may drink”, and who shall say, “Drink, and I will water your camels”—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.’ Before he had finished speaking, there was Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, coming out with her water-jar on her shoulder. The girl was very fair to look upon, a virgin whom no man had known. She went down to the spring, filled her jar, and came up. Then the servant ran to meet her and said, ‘Please let me sip a little water from your jar.’ ‘Drink, my lord,’ she said, and quickly lowered her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink. When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, ‘I will draw for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.’ So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw, and she drew for all his camels.” (Genesis 24:12-20)
Have hundreds of photos from Kyiv, so for now, my feed will be #kyivgram ! 😅🇺🇦😍 I absolutely love these golden-domed churches and cathedrals, and this pretty blue one, St. Michael's, was probably my favourite of the ones I discovered.
Do you love churches?
Today I’m continuing my longtime project #churches_at_night . This is the #church of my hometown #badbevensen . It took 4 attempts, over 60 images and a lot of time to make this image possible. It consists of 15 images, 3 images per row 5 rows. The result after stiching them together has over 150 Megapixel and is a good Gigabyte big. So lets move from the technical stuff to the details of the church. It is named „Dreikönigskirche“ it is part of a protestant congregation . The first traces of the church dating back to 833 A.D the current look was shaped in the early 1900 after it was destroyed by a fire. It is a very humble and simple church due to it protestant roots.
