"Please let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree” Genesis 18:4
Chilling under this tree @htb #churchhouse waiting for the new leaders of further connect groups to start their training. If you’re interested in finding out more about how you can join a connect group and building community see https://www.htb.org/connect-groups to find one nearby. #connectgroups#community#alpha#htb#church
One of the last things I did before we left Oakland was lead a sustainability training for our church hospitality team.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’d become the crazy compost/recycle lady (literally digging through the bags each Sunday to re-sort things 😂) but no one was ready to take over those oh so prestigious duties as we moved!
At this short training, taught the team not just how to determine which bin stuff goes in, but WHY it matters from a biblical and good-neighbor perspective.
If your church, business, or organization needs similar training, get in touch! I love helping people learn new ways of caring for all that God has given us!
BONUS: After the training, someone volunteered to take over the sustainability responsibilities! My work there is done!
A Living Sacrifice, September 24
With eyes wide open to the mercies of God, I beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him. Romans 12:1
“The Lord has been calling the attention of His people to health reform...John separated himself from friends and from the luxuries of life. The simplicity of his dress, a garment woven of camel's hair, was a standing rebuke to the extravagance and display of the Jewish priests, and of the people generally. His diet, purely vegetable, of locusts and wild honey, was a rebuke to the indulgence of appetite and the gluttony that everywhere prevailed...Those who are to prepare the way for the second coming of Christ are represented by faithful Elijah, as John came in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for Christ's first advent. The great subject of reform is to be agitated...Temperance in all things is to be connected with the message, to turn the people of God from their idolatry, their gluttony, and their extravagance in dress and other things. The self-denial, humility, and temperance required of the righteous, whom God especially leads and blesses, is to be presented to the people in contrast to the extravagant, health-destroying habits of those who live in this degenerate age...” — Conflict and Courage (CC 273.2 - 273.5)
Did you know that worry gets you nowhere? It's also an inside job - it knows the codes and the numbers to press to drain your energy. In Matthew 6, Jesus tells us DO NOT WORRY! Worry comes from a place of fear and when we give the fear and worry over to God, our faith grows!
Thank you to Pastor Carol for her message yesterday 'The Building Blocks of Faith'
Press into God and His Word and rest in the fact that He is in control and we have no reason to fear or worry! ✝ #KLCC#Sermon#message#preach
Often times we desire to know why God allows certain things to happen in our lives, but we don’t always receive answers. We must learn to trust God for who He is and to know that His will is always perfect for us. #thebookofjob
