[NEW BLOG POST]
Pastors often joke, “Ministry would be easy if it weren’t for the people.” And while that’s mostly false, sometimes a pastor’s people can do some things that really drive them crazy. 😵
Check out this week’s post and let us know what you think! (link in bio)
It was this Queen’s birthday over the weekend. She constantly inspires with her attitude to life, work and the industry. Her friendship is priceless, her prayers are powerful and if you’ve ever seen her on stage, you know you’ve been in the presence of great talent. She’s the kind of friend who will walk you to your audition and pray for you before you go inside. What a treasure it is to have friends like you Kez!!!
I'm often reminded of this when I come to social media and scroll through the newsfeed.
It's so easy to get wrapped up in the success of other people when we are constantly bombarded with their highlight reel: pictures and stories of all the good things that are happening in their lives, their jobs, their callings.
The thing that we must continually remind ourselves of is that not everything is as it seems. Your mind will play tricks on you and if you let it, it can and will stop you dead in your tracks; it will keep you from moving forward into the calling, the assignment that you have been given.
Today, remember this: just because someone else succeeds in "your area," doesn't mean that you are less of a person, that you are unsuccessful or that you are a failure. Don't be discouraged, but instead, keep moving forward. Keep taking one step at a time and keep being faithful in the calling and direction that you've been given.
Sometimes life looks like a storm. Can I remind you that you can still smile in the midst of a storm? Eventually everything is going to work out in your life. Don’t allow your present trials rob you of your peace and joy. Every difficult season of life has brought me to where I am today. They have maneuvered me to a far greater place in life. So today, if life’s been knocking you down, get back up, smile, and say, “God, I know you’re going to work this mess together for good.” Remember, He’s on your side. Keep your heart pure in this season. Life always gets better!
Potential can’t just be a thing of the future. At some point you’ve gotta activate it and fulfill all that you are meant to be (right now).
Don’t spend the rest of your life merely DREAMING of your potential. You’ll end up taking it to the grave with you and there ain’t a single thing you can do with it there 🤷♀️ Do it now!
You know those nights where you just don’t get a solid night’s sleep? And then it affects your entire day? Well think of it like that when you aren’t trusting God completely. When you start questioning God’s plan and His timing, doubt creeps in. You begin to think your timing would have been so much better. ⠀
If you’re giving to God with a finger still holding on then you never really gave at all. Trust is all in, all the time. He is faithful. ⠀
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”⠀
This week as so many friends are saying goodbye to their beautiful children getting on school buses and saying hello to a new school year, I ponder my narrowing-narrow road journey. This path that I would not pick for myself (nor wish on even an enemy) continues to be filled with surprising pain and losses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Monday while in the car hearing radio hosts discuss back-to-school my heart was overwhelmed thinking of all the years back to school has involved taking my sister’s kids back to school shopping. This year back to school has stirred so much sadness in my heart. I am reminded of what I thought I’d be doing right now— back to school hustle and bustle for my children. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today I feel trapped in this season of barrenness. Whether I’m taking action and fervently pursuing change in my circumstances or waiting in complete surrender, the result is the same: I am alone waiting for God to provide. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This morning God led me to the book of Ezekiel. I wasn’t sure why until I started reading about a young man who faced life-altering disappointment. (I can relate with life-altering disappointment!) He’d prepared his whole life to serve as a temple priest but before his service began he was deported and exiled from Judah. At the beginning of book heaven opened and Ezekiel saw visions of the glory of God and was appointed a prophet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ezekiel’s vision reminds me God has a plan for my future even when the present is filled with life-altering disappointment. Even when it feels like I’ve been exiled and excluded He knows the plans He has for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Through deep sorrow and many tears, I’m clinging to hope that He will restore the years the locusts have eaten. And like the prophet Ezekiel— disappointing closed doors will lead to doors God sovereignty intends to open for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the ache of longing I lift this familiar offering— the painful disappointment, unmet needs and sorrow over what feels like wasted years. I offer my broken heart to the King of kings and Lord of lords, the creator of the universe who holds all things together. May I see God’s glory... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The question we as believers often ask is “What is God’s will for my life? When the better question is “Who should I be?” Man this was good stuff when I read @jenwilkin book -In His Image. It is our desire to be aligned with God’s will and that starts with knowing who God is and abiding in Him. We are to bear His image so do we know what that looks like? What should I do? I believe it starts in His Word. Learning to trust, surrender and abide in Christ and then we will be transformed. Amen! Loved this book and Jen’s other books too so if you were looking for a new book try this one :) Have a great day friends! .

📖 “And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asheroth.” Judges 3:7
Remember. Remember. Remember. We are no better than the Israelites. I am no better. How easy it is to forget. What habits can you build into your life to remind you? Prayer and scripture are obvious ones...what else?
🙏🏻 Father, help me never forget how much I need you, how much you love me, how much you’ve done for me. Remind me. I love you. Amen.
Do you want God to do something brand spankin’ new in your life? Me too, friend. So I’m making room in my heart by cleaning out the old, creating a fresh space for the Lord to work, mold and shape. In my artwork, writing, heart and life. ⠀
I’m praying that He paves a new way, opens new doors, leads me in a new direction this year. That He cuts out the excess, He shows me what to hold onto, and surrounds me with grace through the process. ⠀
Praying that He is glorified in our fresh start.
I was reminded today of one of life's biggest lessons in my life as I read in Jonah. How to FORGIVE. Jonah wanted the people of Nineveh to suffer the consequences of their actions. I sound like a horrible person, but I can admit that it feels good when someone hurts for the hurts they've caused me. However, it feels BETTER when Christ hurts for all those hurts. The Bible says so in Isaiah 53. It pleased the Lord to bruise him. When I wanted to lash out and hurt back, I imagined I was doing it to Christ... And instantly I was filled with humility. He already hurt for my hurts. And for yours. When you are in the position to offer forgiveness or judgment, let it please you that Christ was bruised already. With His stripes, we are healed. #forgiveness#isaiah53#spreadthegospel#christianliving#justiceforall#lashout
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
How many times have you heard that verse? If you’ve been around the church at all I’m sure you have. But have you ever really thought about it?
What if I told you the meaning of the word anxious in this verse is “to seek to promote ones own interests”
So maybe today, as we meditate and pray, we set aside our own interests and ask God what is it that He is after?
It might just be the thing you’ve been searching for ...
Our purpose as the found is to declare the glory - the greatness - of the Lord. But what hope do we show the lost world when we remain a bundle of found people who do not show up to point them to the way? When we seemingly remain silent, “unchanged,” or unaffected by the grace that we have actually been transformed by.
I have been convicted of this lately. In my selfishness, I either “stay” in my Christian bubble, I remain “closed” and unapproachable to the questions of the world, or I become too “busy” to see any needs other than my own.
But Lord, open my eyes. Lord, lift up my spirit. Lord, energize my compassion.
Lord, fill up my mouth.
Lord, hear my declarations.
And Lord, be seen in them all.
We are called to declare (to shout, make known, make visible to the eye, make tangible) the glory (the greatness, the awesomeness, the power, the great story) of our Lord. When in our home, we are to declare. When in our car, we are to declare. When in our daily life, we are to declare. When in anger, we are still to declare.
Action step? Though it sounds easy, we challenge you to take ownership of at least one place of influence that you have. And when there, what would it be like to actually “show up” for those who are lost? To speak of who you are and why you are this way. In vulnerability, begin connecting your struggles to God’s grace so that they can see the grand difference in your comfort and their own lack of hope. Soon, this will bridge the gap between them and God’s Kingdom, giving you the opportunity to ask them to join in this faith...
And we can promise you - the effects of this kind of intentionality is unfathomable. God works through the genuine declarations of His people. And as the 99, our role is to make known the story of our King’s love, life, and glory.
May we declare our new reality as the 99, both confidently and vulnerably; for the sake of the one and for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
As always, let us know what stood out to you - and help us out by sharing the @DeclareGlory community with a friend! #declareglory#livinginthe99
This morning, I pray you find stillness in the chaos of life. If you’re struggling to find peace, ask Jesus to be that for you. He is our hope even when we feel less than worthy of a peaceful, joyful and happy life! 💧And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Thank goodness I noticed this guy when he walked into our church's youth group wearing my favorite band's t-shirt nearly 10 years ago. I'm so thankful for this godly husband of mine.
If there is anything to look for in a lifelong partner, here are my quick top 3 things:
•Unconditional love. He doesn't try to change you. He's patient with you, he puts you above himself.
•Encouragement. He never makes fun of your goals. His words are loving. He supports your dreams, and even helps you achieve them. •Laughter. He can make you laugh. He can be lighthearted. You make each other laugh through the highs and the lows.
Exactly. Quit pretending. Stop wearing the “mask of perfection.” Stop looking down on others because they’re not ‘like you.’ Stop being “religious.” Start drawing nearer to Jesus. Start caring for others. Start loving people. ♥️ Please follow me: -@jesus_inlife_
